CAUTION!

 

Heed special procedure for spiral 
spring etc. removal on vehicles 
equipped with ESP.

 

 VAG 1331 Torque wrench (or 

equivalent 5 - 50 Nm) 

-  Disconnect battery

-  Remove driver's airbag 

-  Remove steering wheel 

-  Remove airbag spiral 

spring/return spring with slip ring 

    

-  Loosen clamping bolt for steering 

column switch and remove 
steering column switch.

   Installing  

  

   Install in reverse order of removal, noting the 

following  

  

  

-  Install airbag spiral spring/return spring with slip 

ring

Removing  

  

  

-  Disconnect battery

-  Remove screws -arrows-. 

-  Disconnect electrical connection 

and remove contact plate.

Installing  

  

  

Install in reverse order of removal, 
noting the following:  

  

  

Note:  

     Ensure metal contact surfaces of 

contact plate as well as contact pins 
in steering wheel -arrows- are clean 
to metal. 

-  Reconnect battery
