AIRBAG LAMP DRIVER FAILURE

When Monitored and Set Condition:

AIRBAG LAMP DRIVER FAILURE

When Monitored:

10 seconds after ignition on.

Set Condition:

Mounties airbag lamp driver circuit for a short circuit condition.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

AIRBAG LAMP DRIVER FAILURE

APPLICABILITY

This is an internal cluster failure.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

Repair

Replace instrument cluster circuit board.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

Symptom:

AIRBAG LAMP OPEN

When Monitored and Set Condition:

AIRBAG LAMP OPEN

When Monitored:

10 seconds after ignition on

Set Condition:

Open in airbag indicator bulb.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

AIRBAG LAMP OPEN

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD

TEST

ACTION

APPLICABILITY

1

Turn ignition off.
Access back of MIC.
Check and replace the airbag bulb, if necessary
Turn ignition on and observe the airbag indicator.
Did the airbag indicator light?

All

Yes

→

Clear DTC and verify proper operation.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Replace instrument cluster circuit board.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

Symptom:

BCM MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED BY MIC

When Monitored and Set Condition:

BCM MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED BY MIC

When Monitored:

Monitored during ignition on.

Set Condition:

No BCM messages received for 6 seconds.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

NO BCM MESSAGES

STORED CODE/COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS

INTERMITTENT PROBLEM

REPAIR PROBLEM

TEST

ACTION

APPLICABILITY

Turn ignition on.
Connect the DRBIII.
Select the Body Control Module.
Is there a response from the Body Control Module?

All

Yes

→

Go To

2

No

→

Refer to symptom *BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN FROM BCM in the
COMMUNICATION category
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the DRBIII

t, erase the DTC from Instrument Cluster.

Now be sure that there is still communication with the Body Control module, if not
repair as necessary.
With the DRB check, for the same DTC to reappear.
Did the same DTC become present again?

All

Yes

→

Go To

3

No

→

Test Complete.

Note: Visually inspect the related wiring harness. Look for any chafed,
pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
Note: Visually inspect the related wiring harness connectors. Look for
broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
Note: Refer to any technical service bulletins that may apply.
If any problems are found to be present, Repair as necessary.
Were any problems found?

No

→

Replace the Instrument Cluster.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Yes

→

Repair as necessary.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:

BRAKE LAMP CKT SHORT

When Monitored and Set Condition:

BRAKE LAMP CKT SHORT

When Monitored:

Ignition on. (can not monitor with emergency brake engaged)

Set Condition:

Short circuit in the brake indicator driver circuit.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

BRAKE LAMP CIRCUIT SHORT
