EC-280 < COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS > [QR25DE] P0448 EVAP CANISTER VENT CONTROL VALVE P0448 EVAP CANISTER VENT CONTROL VALVE Description INFOID:0000000004363284 The EVAP canister vent control valve is located on the EVAP canis- ter and is used to seal the canister vent. This solenoid valve responds to signals from the ECM. When the ECM sends an ON signal, the coil in the solenoid valve is energized. A plunger will then move to seal the canister vent. The ability to seal the vent is necessary for the on board diagnosis of other evaporative emission control system components. This solenoid valve is used only for diagnosis, and usually remains opened. When the vent is closed, under normal purge conditions, the evapo- rative emission control system is depressurized and allows “EVAP Control System” diagnosis. DTC Logic INFOID:0000000004211514 DTC DETECTION LOGIC DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE 1. PRECONDITIONING If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following before conduct- ing the next test. 1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds. 2. Turn ignition switch ON. 3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds. TESTING CONDITION: This test may be conducted with the drive wheels lifted in the shop or by driving the vehicle. If this test is conducted with the drive wheels lifted, activate “INPSECTION MODE 1” ( ). If a road test is expected to be easier, it is unnecessary to lift up the vehicle. >> GO TO 2. 2. PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE 1. Turn ignition switch ON (READY) and wait at least 150 seconds. 2. Drive vehicle at a speed of 80 km/h (50 MPH) or more for at least 3 consecutive minutes. CAUTION: Always drive vehicle at a safe speed. NOTE: Never fully release accelerator pedal during the cruising. 3. Check 1st trip DTC.
