Removal and Installation

OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT

WARNING:

• Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery terminals then wait at

least three minutes.

• Do not use air tools or electric tools for servicing.

Removal

1. Remove front passenger seat assembly. Refer to  

SE-29, "Removal and Installation"

.

2. Remove occupant classification system control unit bolts.
3. Disconnect the harness connector from the occupant classification system control unit.
4. Remove occupant classification system control unit.

CAUTION:

• Replace the occupant classification control unit if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.

• Do not strike the occupant classification control unit.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION:

• Do not damage the harness connector during installation.

• After installation is complete, check that no system malfunction is detected causing the air bag

warning lamp to illuminate. 

• If a malfunction is indicated by the air bag warning lamp after repair or replacement of the malfunc-

tioning parts, perform the SRS final check. Refer to 

SRC-37, "ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN

REPLACING CONTROL UNIT : Description"

.

OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM SENSORS

WARNING:

• Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery terminals then wait at

least three minutes.

• Do not use air tools or electric tools for servicing.

Removal
1. Remove front passenger seat cushion. Refer to 

SE-29, "Removal and Installation"

.

2. Remove seat cushion pan bolts then lift seat cushion pan and disconnect harness connectors from occu-

pant classification sensors.

3. Remove nuts and washer then remove seat frame from the seat track.
4. Remove nuts from occupant classification sensor and remove. 

Installation

1. Install occupant classification sensor to seat track using nuts.

CAUTION:

Do not reuse nuts.

2. Install seat frame to seat track using nuts and washer.

CAUTION:

Do not reuse nuts or washer.

NOTE:

Tighten all nuts by hand first, first tighten front (LH) nut, then tighten rear (LH) nut. Tighten all remaining

nuts.

Occupant classification

:22 N·m (2.2 kg-m, 16 ft-lb)

3. Connect harness connectors to occupant classification sensors then install seat cushion pan using bolts.

CAUTION:

Do not reuse bolts.

4. Install front passenger seat cushion. Refer to 

SE-29, "Removal and Installation"

.

Seat track (LH) nuts

:45 N·m (4.6 kg-m, 33 ft-lb)

Seat track (RH) nuts

:22 N·m (2.2 kg-m, 16 ft-lb)

Seat cushion pan bolts

:22 N·m (2.2 kg-m, 16 ft-lb)

Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Remove cluster lid C. Refer to 

IP-17, "Removal and Installation"

.

2. Remove screws (A) then the passenger air bag indicator (1)

from cluster lid C (2).

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
