Check engine coolant temperature sensor circuit for open and short.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 4.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

4.

CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Refer to 

EC-1009, "Component Inspection (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Replace error-detected parts.

Component Inspection (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor)

1.

CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

1.

Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector.

2.

Check resistance between engine coolant temperature sensor terminals under the following conditions.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Replace engine coolant temperature sensor.

DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Harness or connectors (Throttle position sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
• Throttle position sensor
• Electric throttle control actuator

FAIL-SAFE

ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM

• EGR valve is closed position
• Throttle control motor is opened
• CSF regeneration forbidden
• Airflow regulation cut off
• Compression test routine forbidden
• CCSL deactivated with dashboard message
• Freeshift inhibited

STOP/START SYSTEM

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

PRECONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always turn ignition switch OFF and wait at
least 1 minute before conducting the next test.

>> GO TO 2.

2.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 1 second.

2.

Check DTC.

Is DTC detected?

YES

>> Proceed to 

EC-1010, "Diagnosis Procedure"

.

NO-1

>> To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to 

GI-44, "Intermittent Incident"

.

NO-2

>> Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

CHECK ECM HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTIONS

1.

Turn ignition switch OFF.

2.

Check ECM harness connector connection.

• Throttle position sensor voltage sent to ECM is 0.2 V or less for 0.5 sec-

ond or more.

Stop/start system operating condition in fail safe mode

Idling or driving the vehicle

CHECK ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTIONS

Check electric throttle control actuator harness connector connection.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

3.

CHECK ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR FITTING CONDITION

Check electric throttle control actuator fitting condition.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 4.

NO

>> Adjust parts fitting condition.

4.

CHECK ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

Check electric throttle control actuator circuit for open and short.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 5.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

5.

CHECK THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR

Refer to 

EC-1011, "Component Inspection (Throttle Position Sensor)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Replace error-detected parts.

Component Inspection (Throttle Position Sensor)

1.

CHECK THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR

1.

Turn ignition switch OFF.

2.

Reconnect all harness connectors disconnected.

3.

Perform 

EC-949, "Work Procedure"

.

4.

Turn ignition switch ON.

5.

Set selector lever to D position. 

6.

Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals under the following conditions.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Replace malfunctioning electric throttle control actuator.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Harness or connectors (The air fuel ratio sensor heater circuit is open or shorted.)
• Air fuel ratio sensor heater

FAIL-SAFE

Stop closed-loop control

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

PRECONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always turn ignition switch OFF and wait at
least 1 minute before conducting the next test.

>> GO TO 2.

2.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 10 seconds.

2.

Check DTC.

Is DTC detected?

YES

>> Proceed to 

EC-1012, "Diagnosis Procedure"

.

NO-1

>> To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to 

GI-44, "Intermittent Incident"

.

NO-2

>> Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

CHECK AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTIONS

Check A/F sensor harness connector connection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

3.

CHECK A/F SENSOR HEATER CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

Check A/F sensor circuit for open and short.

DTC No.

(O2 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1)
• CC.0: SHORT CIRCUIT TO EARTH
• CC.1: SHORT-CIRCUIT TO +12V
• CO: OPEN CIRCUIT

• ECM detects Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Heater circuit is open for 5 seconds.
• ECM detects Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Heater circuit is short to ground for 5 

seconds.

• ECM detects Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Heater circuit is short to power for 5
