>> Repair harness or connector.

CHECK CIRCUIT CONTINUITY BETWEEN FRONT AIR CONTROL AND VARIABLE BLOWER CONTROL

1.

Disconnect front air control connector.

2.

Check continuity between front air control harness connector
M85 (A) terminal 21 and variable blower control harness con-
nector M90 (B) terminal 4. 

Is the inspection result normal

YES

>> Replace variable blower control. Refer to XXXX

NO

>> Repair harness or connector.

7.

CHECK FOR FRONT AIR CONTROL OUTPUT 2

1.

Reconnect the front blower motor and the variable blower con-
trol. 

2.

Turn ignition switch ON.

3.

Check output signal between front air control harness connector
M85 terminal 21 and ground. 

Is the inspection result normal

YES

>> Replace front air control. Refer to XXXX.

NO

>> Replace variable blower control. Refer to XXXX.

Apply 12 volts to terminal 1 and ground to terminal 2 and verify that
the motor operates freely and quietly.

Blower Relay

Check continuity between terminals by supplying 12 volts and
ground to coil side terminals of relay.

System Description

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

Front air control controls compressor operation by intake air temperature and signal from ECM.

Low Temperature Protection Control

Front air control will turn compressor ON or OFF as determined by a signal detected by intake sensor.
When intake air temperatures are higher than 3.5

°

C (38

°

F), the com-

pressor turns ON. The compressor turns OFF when intake air tem-
peratures are lower than 2

°

C (36

°

F).

INSPECTION FLOW

1.

CONFIRM SYMPTOM BY PERFORMING OPERATIONAL CHECK - MAGNET CLUTCH

1.

Turn ignition switch ON.

2.

Press the A/C switch.

3.

Turn mode control dial to vent mode (

). Confirm that the compressor clutch engages (sound or visual

inspection). (Discharge air and blower speed will depend on ambient, in-vehicle and set temperatures.)

Can the symptom be duplicated?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> GO TO 2.

2.

PERFORM COMPLETE OPERATIONAL CHECK

Perform a complete operational check and check for any symptoms. Refer to 

HAC-202, "Operational Check"

Can a symptom be duplicated?

YES

>> Refer to 

HAC-201, "How to Perform Trouble Diagnosis For Quick And Accurate Repair"

NO

>> System OK.

3.

CHECK FOR SERVICE BULLETINS

Check for any service bulletins.

>> GO TO 4.

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS.

Set in Self-diagnostic mode. Refer to 

HAC-213, "Front Air Control Self-Diagnosis"

Are any self-diagnosis codes present?

YES

>> Repair as necessary.

NO

>> GO TO 5.

5.

 CHECK AMBIENT SENSOR CIRCUIT

Perform diagnostic procedure for the mode door motor. Refer to 

HAC-244, "Ambient Sensor Diagnosis Proce-

dure"

>> GO TO 6.

NO

>> Repair as necessary.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE FOR MAGNET CLUTCH

SYMPTOM: Magnet clutch does not engage when A/C switch is ON.

1.

CHECK INTAKE SENSOR CIRCUIT

Refer to 

HAC-253, "Intake Sensor Diagnosis Procedure"

>> Malfunctioning intake sensor: Refer to XX.
