FUNCTION

• Input, into the engine-ECU, the information

whether the clutch pedal is depressed or not.
When the clutch pedal is depressed to shift, the
engine-ECU takes control to close the throttle
valve and to retard the ignition timing.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Failed clutch switch

• Open/short circuit and damage in clutch switch

circuit or loose connector contact

• Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: B-61 clutch switch
connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2 .

NO :

Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 2. Check the clutch switch itself.

• Clutch switch check (Refer to GROUP 21A −

Clutch

− On-vehicle Service − Clutch monitor

Switch Check and Adjustment

P.21A-4

).

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 6 .

NO :

Replace the clutch switch.

STEP 3. Perform voltage measurement at B-61
clutch switch connector.

• Disconnect connector, and measure at the har-

ness side.

• Ignition switch: ON

• Voltage between terminal No. 1 and earth.

OK: System voltage

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 6 .

NO :

Go to Step 4 .

STEP 4. Connector check: A-114 engine-ECU
connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 5 .

NO :

Repair or replace the connector.
