TROUBLESHOOTING MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MPI) <4G1> 13B-229 Code No. P2138: Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (Main and Sub) Range/Performance Problem OPERATION • Refer to Code No. P2122: Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (main) Circuit Low Input . • Refer to Code No. P2127: Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (sub) Circuit Low Input . FUNCTION • Engine-ECU checks the accelerator pedal posi- tion sensor output signal characteristics for TROUBLE JUDGMENT Check Conditions • Ignition switch is in "ON" position. • Not while engine is being cranked. • Battery voltage is more than 6.3 V. • Accelerator pedal position sensor (main) output voltage is more than 0.2 V and is less than 4.8 V. • Accelerator pedal position sensor (sub) output voltage is more than 0.2 V and is less than 2.5 V. Judgement Criterion • When variation in accelerator openinging angle is small. • Difference is more than 0.3 V between accelera- tor pedal position sensor (sub) output voltage PROBABLE CAUSE • Failed accelerator pedal position sensor • Open/short circuit in accelerator pedal position sensor circuit or loose connector contact • Failed engine-ECU DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE STEP 1. Connector check: B-26 accelerator pedal Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 2 . NO : Repair or replace. STEP 2. Perform resistance measurement at B-26 • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side. • Resistance between terminal No. 2 and earth. OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less) Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 6 . NO : Go to Step 3 . AK402092 1 6 5 4 3 2 B-26(B) AC Connector: B-26 Harness side AK402092 1 6 5 4 3 2 B-26(B) AC Connector: B-26 Harness side Main Index Group TOC |
