TROUBLESHOOTING MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MPI) <4A9> 13A-82 TROUBLE JUDGMENT Check Conditions • After engine starts <M/T> • Engine coolant temperature is 20°C or higher. • While oxygen sensor (rear) heater is on <CVT>. • Battery positive voltage is 11 − 16 V. • Engine speed is approximately 50 r/min or more <CVT>. Judgment Criterion • Oxygen sensor (rear) heater currents have con- tinued to be 0.16 A or lower, or 5.0 A or higher for PROBABLE CAUSES • Failed oxygen sensor (rear) heater • Open/short circuit in oxygen sensor (rear) circuit or loose connector contact • Failed engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-CVT-ECU <CVT> DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE STEP 1. Connector check: B-53 oxygen sensor Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 2 . NO : Repair or replace the connector. STEP 2. Perform resistance measurement at B-53 • Disconnect connector, and measure at sensor side. • Resistance between terminal No. 3 and No. 4. OK: 5 − 30 Ω (at 20°C) Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 3 . NO : Replace the oxygen sensor (rear).
