TROUBLESHOOTING

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS)

STEP 3. Connector check: SRS-ECU connector 
C-118, C-119 and C-120.

Q: Are connectors correctly engaged?

YES : 

Go to Step 4.

NO : 

Engage the connectors correctly. Then go to 
Step 5.

STEP 4. Connector check: SRS-ECU connector 
C-118, C-119 and C-120.

(1) Disconnect SRS-ECU connectors C-118, C-119 

and C-120.

(2) Check the connector lock switch terminal inside 

the harness side connector for improper contact 
or deformation.

Q: Are the SRS-ECU connector C-118, C-119 and 

C-120 in good condition? 
YES : 

Erase the diagnosis code memory, and 

check the diagnosis code. If diagnosis code 
B1519 sets, replace the SRS-ECU. (Refer 
to 

P.52B-223

). Then go to Step 5.

NO : 

Replace the SRS-ECU connector C-118, 
C-119 and C-120. Then go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is 
reset.

Q: Is diagnosis code B1519 set?

There is no action to be taken.

NO : 

The procedure is complete (If no 
malfunctions are found in all steps, an 
intermittent malfunction is suspected). Refer 
to GROUP 00, How to Use 
Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points

Code No.B1547: Cut Off for Passenger’s Air Bag

CAUTION

If diagnosis code B1547 is set in the SRS-ECU, 
always diagnose the CAN main bus line.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS

When judging a collision, this code is set while the 
passenger's air bag is OFF.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. MUT-III CAN bus diagnostics
Use the MUT-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 2.

NO : 

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 
54D, Diagnosis 

P.54D-16

).

STEP 2. MUT-III diagnosis code
Check that the diagnosis code except B1547 is set.
(1) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.

(2) Check if the diagnosis code is set.
(3) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOOK (OFF)" 

position.

Q: Is the diagnosis code set?

YES : 

Carry out the troubleshooting according to a 

set diagnosis code. Refer to 

P.52B-13

.

NO : 

Go to Step 3 .

STEP 3. Check whether the diagnosis code is 
reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Ignition: LOCK (OFF) position to ON
(3) On completion, check that the diagnosis code is 

not reset.

Q: Is diagnosis code B1547 set?

YES : 

Replace the SRS-ECU (Refer to 

P.52B-223

).

NO : 

The procedure is complete.

Code No.B1556: Seat Slide Sensor System for Fault 2 (Malfunction of Seat Slide Sensor)

CAUTION

If diagnosis code B1556 is set in the SRS-ECU, 
always diagnose the CAN main bus line.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS

These diagnosis codes are set if the following 
conditions are detected from the seat slide sensor 
output:

• Seat slide sensor is not operating.

• Seat slide sensor characteristics are abnormal.

• Seat slide sensor output is abnormal.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of seat slide sensor

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. MUT-III CAN bus diagnostics
Use the MUT-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 2.

NO : 

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 
54D, Diagnosis 

P.54D-16

).

STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is 
reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Ignition: LOCK (OFF) position to ON
(3) On completion, check that the diagnosis code is 

not reset.

Q: Is the diagnosis code set?

YES : 

Go to Step 3.

NO : 

There is an intermittent malfunction such as 
poor engaged connector(s) or open circuit 
(Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with 
Intermittent Malfunction 

P.00-5

).

STEP 3. Check the seat slide sensor. (MUT-III 
diagnosis code.)
Replace seat slide sensor (Refer to 

P.52B-242

).

Check the diagnosis code.

Q: Is either diagnosis code B1556 set?

YES : 

Replace the SRS-ECU (Refer to 

P.52B-223

).

NO : 

The procedure is complete.
