Inspection Procedure 4: One of position lamps or licence plate lamps does not illuminate.

CAUTION

Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the position lamps or the licence plate lamps do not 
illuminate, the wiring harness connector(s), the bulb 
or the fuse may be defective or burned out.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Burned-out bulb

• Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: A-117 position lamp 
(LH) connector or A-37 position lamp (RH) 
connector, F-05 <vehicles with rear body> or F-22 
<vehicles without rear body> licence plate lamp 
(LH) connector or F-06 <vehicles with rear body> 
or F-21 <vehicles without rear body> licence 
plate lamp (RH) connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 2.

NO : 

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Check the bulbs of the position lamps or 
the licence plate lamps.
Check the bulb of the lamp which does not illumi-
nate.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 3.

NO : 

Replace the bulb of the lamp which does not 
illuminate.

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at the A-117 
position lamp (LH) connector or A-37 position 
lamp (RH) connector, the F-05 <vehicles with rear 
body> or F-22 <vehicles without rear body> 
licence plate lamp (LH) connector or F-06 
<vehicles with rear body> or F-21 <vehicles 
without rear body> licence plate lamp (RH) 
connector.

(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the 

wiring harness side.

(2) Check the resistance between the lamp

Resistance between A-117 position lamp (LH) or 

A-37 position lamp (RH) connector terminal 
No.2 and body earth

•

Resistance between F-05 licence plate lamp (LH) 

or F-06 licence plate lamp (RH) connector ter-
minal No.1 and body earth <vehicles with rear 
body>

•

Resistance between F-22 licence plate lamp (LH) 

or F-21 licence plate lamp (RH) connector ter-
minal No.1 and body earth <vehicles without 
rear body>

OK: Continuity exists (2 

Ω or less)

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 5.

NO : 

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness from A-117 
position lamp (LH) connector terminal No.2 or A-
37 position lamp (RH) connector terminal No.2, F-
05 licence plate lamp (LH) connector terminal 
No.1 or F-06 licence plate lamp (RH) connector 
terminal No.1 to body earth.

NOTE: Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check 
intermediate connector F-07 <licence plate lamp>, 
and repair if necessary.

• Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 5.

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness.
