APPLICABILITY

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Body Control Module from the Junction Block.
Disconnect the Junction Block C1 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Junction Block Seatbelt Switch Sense circuit.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes

→

Replace the Junction Block.

No

→

Replace the Body Control Module.

Key on. Buckle the Seatbelt.
With the DRBIII

t in Body Computer Inputs Outputs, read the Seatbelt SW state.

Does the DRBIII

t display Seatbelt SW: OPEN?

All

Yes

→

Replace the cluster circuit board.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Go To

Disconnect the Seatbelt Switch connector under drivers seat.
Turn the ignition on.
Does the DRBIII

t display Seat Belt SW: OPEN?

All

Yes

→

Replace the Seatbelt Switch.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Go To

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Junction Block C1 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Seatbelt Switch Sense circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes

→

Repair the Seatbelt Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Go To

Remove the Body Control Module from the Junction Block.
Disconnect the Junction Block C1 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Seatbelt Switch Sense circuit at the
Junction Block.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes

→

Replace the Junction Block.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition from the Off position to the Run position and observe the bulb
check.
Did the Skim indicator come on and then go out?

All

No

→

Go To

Yes

→

Test Complete.

Remove and inspect the Skim bulb and socket.
Is there a problem with the bulb or socket?

All

Yes

→

Repair or replace the bulb or socket as needed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Go To

Using the DRB select VEHICLE THEFT/SECURITY, then read SKIM DTC’s.
Are there any SKIM DTC’s present?

All

Yes

→

Refer to Powertrain Diagnostic information for the related symp-
tom(s).
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Go To

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

All

Repair

If there are no possible causes remaining, replace the Instrument
Cluster circuit board.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

*SPEEDOMETER NOT OPERATING PROPERLY

SPEEDOMETER INPUT - PROBLEM

APPLICABILITY

Turn the ignition off.
During the self test all gauges should move from their minimum point to their
maximum point then back down to its minimum.
While holding the

9trip/reset9 button down on the instrument cluster, turn the

ignition key from off to the run position then release the button. This will start the
MIC self test.
Did the Speedometer pass the self test?

All

Yes

→

Go To

No

→

Replace the Instrument Cluster Speedometer .
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the DRBIII

t, verify that the pinion factor is correctly programmed.

Is the pinion factor programmed correctly?

All

Yes

→

Refer to Powertrain Diagnostic information for the releated
symptom(s).
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→

Using the Diagnostic (Transmission, or Chassis)/Service Manual
Information as a guide, program the correct pinion factor, and
then verify that the Speedometer is working.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
