Removal & Installation (Front Cable & Conduit) 

1. Fully release parking brake control.  

2. Relieve the tension on the parking brake system. Pull the front parking brake cable down. Insert a suitable 

retainer. See Fig. 59 .  

3. Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit from the right parking brake rear cable and conduit. 

Pull the front parking brake cable and conduit rearward to unclip it from the right parking brake rear cable 
and conduit. See Fig. 70 .  

4. Remove the front door scuff plate. See Fig. 60 .  

5. Remove the cowl side trim panel. See Fig. 61 .  

6. Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit. Compress the connector to release the front parking 

brake cable. Disconnect the front parking brake cable. Remove the front parking brake cable. See Fig. 
69 .  

7. Remove the front parking brake cable and conduit. Pry the rubber seal from the front floor pan. Unclip 

the front parking brake cable and conduit from the front parking brake cable clip. Compress the retainer

and release the front parking brake cable and conduit from the bracket. Remove the front parking brake 
cable and conduit. See Fig. 71 .  

8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (Rear Cable & Conduit) 

1. Fully release parking brake control.  

2. Relieve the tension on the parking brake system. Pull the front parking brake cable down. Insert a suitable 

retainer. See Fig. 59 .  

3. Raise and support vehicle.  

4. Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit from the right parking brake rear cable and conduit. 

See Fig. 70 . Pull the front parking brake cable and conduit rearward to unclip it from the right parking 
brake rear cable and conduit. See Fig. 72 .  

5. For the right parking brake rear cable and conduit, compress the retainer and remove it from the parking 

brake cable equalizer. See Fig. 73 .  

6. For the left parking brake rear cable and conduit, remove it from the parking brake cable equalizer. 

Unhook the cable end from the equalizer bracket. Compress the retainer and detach the parking brake rear 
cable and conduit.  

7. This step is only necessary when removing the right parking brake rear cable and conduit. Disconnect the 

parking brake rear cable and conduit from the axle housing.  

8. Remove the cable support bracket. Remove the bolt. Remove the bracket. See Fig. 74 .
