Window opening: push the buttons to
open the desired window. The window
moves in "stages" if one of the two
buttons is pressed briefly. "Automatic
continuous" operation is activated if the
buttons are pressed for more than
half a second. The window stops when
it reaches end of travel position, or in
the desired position by pressing the
button again.
Window closing: lift the buttons to
close the desired window. The window
closing occurs following the same
logic described for the opening stage.

Versions with 2 electric windows

On some versions, only A and B fig. 24
buttons are available to open/close
the front windows. These versions are
equipped with "automatic continuous
operation" during the window opening
stage.

Anti-crush safety device
(for versions/markets, where provided)

This system detects the presence of
an obstacle during the window closing
travel: should this event occur the
system stops and reverses the window
travel, depending on its position. If
this function is activated for 5 times in 1
minute, the closing window is lifted by
stages ("recovery" mode). The device is
active in the manual and automatic
operation of the window.

Remote opening/closing by means
of a key with remote control
(for versions/markets, where provided)

The windows can be opened/closed by
pressing the unlocking (

)/locking

(

) button on the key with remote

control for more than 2 seconds. The
windows move simultaneously as long
as the corresponding button is held
down; they will stop when they reach
the upper (or lower) end of travel
position, or the button is released.

ELECTRIC WINDOWS
SYSTEM INITIALISATION

Following any disconnection of the
battery or blowing of the protective
fuse, the system must be initialised
again: bring the window to be initialised
to the upper end of travel position in
manual operation. When this position is
reached, keep the lifting control
activated for at least 1 second.

WARNING

26) Improper use of the electric windows
can be dangerous. Before and during
operation, always check that passengers
are not exposed to the risk of being injured
either directly by the moving windows or
through objects getting caught or struck by
them.

27) When leaving the vehicle, always
remove the ignition key to avoid the risk of
injury for people still on board due to
accidental operation of the electric
windows.

ELECTRIC SUN
ROOF

The sun roof can be operated only with
the ignition key turned to MAR.

CONTROL BUTTONS

Keep button B fig. 25 pressed to open
the glass panel in the "spoiler" position.
After opening, press the button again
for more than half a second to bring the
roof automatically to fully open
position. To deactivate the automatic
movement press the button again.

From the fully open position press
button A fig. 25: the front glass panel
will automatically move into the "spoiler"
position. Pressing the button again for
more than half a second, the roof
will automatically move into the fully
closed position. Press the button again
to interrupt the automatic movement
and stop it in the intermediate position.
Anti-pinch system: the sun roof has
an anti-pinch safety system which,
detecting the presence of a possible
obstacle whilst the roof is closing, stops
the movement of the glass panel and
reverses it.

INITIALISATION
PROCEDURE

After the battery has been
disconnected or the protective fuse has
blown, the operation of the sun roof
must be initialised again. Press button
A fig. 25 in the closed position and
keep it pressed for one second after
the roof is completely closed.

EMERGENCY OPERATION

If the control buttons fail to operate, the
sun roof can be moved manually,
proceeding as described below:

remove the protective cover B (fig.

26) located on the internal lining,
between the two sun blinds;

take the Allen key provided, located

in the tool box, fit it into the housing
A fig. 26 and turn it clockwise to open
the roof or anticlockwise to close it.

WARNING

28) When leaving the vehicle, always
remove the key from the ignition to avoid
the risk of injury to those still inside the
vehicle due to accidental operation of the
sun roof. Improper use of the roof can
be dangerous. Before and during
operation, always check that nobody is at
risk of being injured by the moving sun roof
or by objects getting caught or hit by it.

WARNING

5) Use the sunroof only in spoiler position if
transverse roof racks are fitted. Do not
open the sun roof if there is snow or ice on
it: you may damage it.

DUALDRIVE
ELECTRIC POWER
STEERING

This only operates with the key turned
to MAR and the engine started.
The steering allows the force required
at the steering wheel to be adjusted
to suit driving conditions. When the
CITY function is on, the steering wheel
effort is lighter, making parking easier:
therefore, this function is particularly
useful for driving in city centres.

IMPORTANT When turning the ignition
key quickly, full power steering
functionality can be achieved after a
few seconds.

CITY FUNCTION
ACTIVATION/
DEACTIVATION

Press button CITY fig. 27, function
activation is signalled by the word CITY
on the display (for versions with
multifunction display) and by the word
CITY lighting up on the button after
it has been pressed. Press the button
again to deactivate the function

IMPORTANT During parking
manoeuvres requiring a lot of steering,
the steering may become harder: this is
normal and is due to the intervention
of the system to protect the electric
steering motor from overheating, so no
intervention is required. When the
vehicle is used again later on,
the power steering will work normally.

WARNING

29) It is strictly forbidden to carry out any
after-market operation involving steering
system or steering column modifications
(e.g. installing an anti-theft device). This
could badly affect performance and safety,
invalidate the warranty and also result in
the non-compliance of the vehicle with
regulations.

30) Before carrying out any maintenance
operation, switch off the engine and
remove the ignition key to activate the
steering lock. This is particularly important if
the vehicle's wheels are raised from the
ground. If this is not possible (for example if
the key needs to be turned to MAR or the
engine must be running), remove the
main fuse that protects the electric power
steering.

31) Factors independent of the electric
power steering could cause the warning
light on the instrument panel to switch on:
stop the vehicle immediately, should it be in
motion, turn the engine off for about 20
minutes and then restart it. If the warning
light stays on (on some versions along with
a message on the display) contact a Fiat
dealership.

ECO FUNCTION

(for versions/markets, where provided)

Press the ECO button fig. 28 to activate
the function. When the ECO function
is active, the vehicle is set for a driving
style characterised by reduced fuel
consumption. When the function is
active, the corresponding LED on the
button switches on.

This function stays in the memory and,
when the engine is started again, the
system keeps the setting it had before
the engine was stopped.
To deactivate the function press button
B fig. 28 again.

BONNET

Pull the lever fig. 29 in the direction
indicated by the arrow, then operate
lever A fig. 30 and raise the bonnet,
securing it to the stay rod.

The following plate is applied inside the
engine compartment (fig. 31).

IMPORTANT Before raising the bonnet,
make sure that the arms of the wipers
are not raised from the windscreen and
that the wiper is not operational.

CLOSING

Keep the bonnet raised with one hand
and use the other to remove the stay
rod. Lower the bonnet to approximately
20 centimetres from the engine
compartment then let it drop. Make
sure that the bonnet is completely
closed and not only fastened by the
locking device by trying to open it. If it is
not perfectly closed, do not try to
press the bonnet lid down but open it
and repeat the procedure.

IMPORTANT Always check that the
bonnet is closed correctly to prevent it
from opening while the vehicle is
travelling.

WARNING

32) Wrong positioning of the bonnet stay
may cause the bonnet to fall abruptly.

33) Raise the bonnet using both hands.
Before lifting, check that the windscreen
wiper arms are not raised from the
windscreen, that the vehicle is stationary
and that the handbrake is engaged.

34) Perform these operations only with
vehicle stationary.

35) For safety reasons, the bonnet must
always be properly closed while driving.
Therefore, make sure that the bonnet
is properly closed and that the lock
is engaged. If you discover during travel
that the lock is not fully engaged, stop
immediately and close the bonnet in the
correct manner.

Pull the grab handle in the inner part of
the tailgate and lower it pressing until
it clicks into place.

WARNING

36) Never exceed the maximum allowed
load in the luggage compartment. Also
make sure that the objects you place in the
luggage compartment and on the rear
shelf have been properly secured, to avoid
them from being thrown forward
consequent to sudden braking and injuring
your passengers.

WARNING

6) Do not fit additional objects onto the
rear parcel shelf or tailgate (speakers,
spoilers, etc.), except when contemplated
by the manufacturer, to ensure the correct
operation of the side gas shock absorbers
of the tailgate itself.

VERSION WITH LPG
SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

The LPG version features two fuel
supply systems: one for petrol and one
for LPG.

Every time the vehicle is not in use for a
long period or moved in an emergency
as a result of a breakdown/accident
it is recommended to:

unscrew the fixing devices A fig. 34,

then remove the cover B;

close the LPG tap by rotating the

ring nut C fig. 35 clockwise, then refit
the cover and re-tighten the fixing
devices.

LPG TANK

The tank A fig. 36 for storing the LPG in
a liquid state is located in the spare
wheel compartment.

LPG tank certification

The LPG tank is certified in accordance
with the regulations in force.

In Italy, the tank has a life of 10 years
starting from the car registration date. If
the vehicle has been registered in a
country other than Italy, the duration
and the testing/inspection procedures
of the LPG tank can vary depending on
the national laws of that country. In all
case, when the time limit for your
country has expired, go to a Fiat Dealer
to have the tank replaced.

SELECTION OF
PETROL/LPG SUPPLY
TYPE

The button A fig. 37 allows you to
select running on petrol or LPG. The
current state is signalled by the

icon

on the instrument panel display turning
on/off (icon on: running on petrol /
icon off: running on LPG).

Switching to the chosen supply system
takes place according to the vehicle
usage conditions, therefore it might not
be immediate.
If the LPG runs out, the system
automatically switches to petrol and the

icon is displayed. When the

described conditions are no longer
present, the system automatically
returns to running on LPG and the

icon turns off.

REFUELLING

LPG

Maximum refuelling capacity (including
reserve): 39.6 litres. The figure already
takes into account the 80% tank filling
limit and the residual fluid required
for priming and the maximum permitted
capacity. After different refuelling
processes, this figure may vary due to
differences between the network pump
supply pressures, pumps with different
supply/locking features, tank not
completely run out of fuel.

WARNING

37) Note that in some countries (including
Italy) there are legal restrictions in force
for parking/garaging motor vehicles fuelled
by gas that is denser than air; LPG comes
under this category.

38) Modifications or repairs to the supply
system that are not carried out correctly or
do not take the system technical
specifications into account can cause
malfunctions leading to the risk of fire.

39) Do not switch between the two
operating modes whilst starting the engine.

WARNING

7) The system operates at temperatures
ranging between -20°C and 100°C.

8) If the fuel runs out while running on LPG,
the car switches to petrol automatically
and all the bars of the digital indicator on
the display turn off. The display remains in
this state until the next LPG refuelling.

9) The car is equipped with a gaseous LPG
injection system designed specifically for
it: it is therefore absolutely forbidden to
alter the configuration of the system or its
components. The use of other components
or materials could cause malfunctions and
lead to a reduction in safety; therefore, in
the case of problems, contact a Fiat
Dealership. To prevent damage to the gas
system parts when towing or raising the
vehicle, follow the instructions in the
"Towing the vehicle" paragraph.

10) When painting in an oven, the LPG
tank must be removed from the car and
later refitted by a Fiat Dealership. Although
the LPG system has numerous safety
features, it is advisable to proceed
as follows every time the vehicle is not in
use for a long period or moved in an
emergency as a result of a breakdown or
accident: unscrew the fastening devices A
fig. 34, then remove the cover B. Close
the LPG cock rotating the ring nut C
clockwise fig. 35. Refit the cover and
retighten the fastening devices.

11) Periodically (at least once every six
months) it is advisable to let the LPG in the
tank run out and check that it does not
exceed the maximum capacity of 39.6 litres
(including reserve) at the first refuelling
(see instructions in the "Capacities"
paragraph in this Supplement). If the level
is above 39.6 litres (reserve included)
contact a Fiat Dealership immediately.

12) Regardless of the last fuel system
used, at the following engine starting, after
the initial petrol stage, the system will
automatically switch to LPG.

13) When switching from petrol to LPG is
requested, a metal noise from the valves
which pressurise the circuit can be heard.
As a result of the switching logic described
above, a delay between the valve ticking
and the green warning light

on the

instrument panel turning off is completely
normal.

14) In particular usage conditions, such as
starting and operation at low ambient
temperature or LPG supply with low
propane content, the system may switch
temporarily to petrol operation, without
indicating the performed switching. In the
event of low LPG levels in the tank or
requests for high performance (e.g.
overtaking, vehicle fully laden, steep hills)
the system may automatically switch to
running on petrol to guarantee the required
engine power; the

icon on the

instrument panel turns on to indicate this.
When the above conditions are no longer
present, the system automatically returns
to running on LPG and the

warning light

turns off. To achieve the automatic
switching described above, make sure that
there is always enough fuel in the petrol
tank.

15) Only use LPG for motor vehicles.

16) It is strictly forbidden to use any
additive in the LPG.

VERSION WITH
METHANE SYSTEM
(Natural Power)

INTRODUCTION

The "Natural Power" version features
two fuel systems, one for petrol and
one for natural gas (methane).

METHANE CYLINDERS

The vehicle has two cylinders (see fig.
38 and fig. 39) located under the floor
and protected by two special guards.
The methane, stored in the cylinders at
high pressure, flows through a
dedicated pipe to reach the pressure
regulator/reduction unit which supplies
the two methane injectors at low
pressure (about 9 bar).

Cylinder certification
The cylinders are certified in
accordance with ECE Regulation no.
110. The cylinders must be inspected,
according to the Procedure of the
ECE Regulation no. 110, every 4 years
from the vehicle registration date or
in accordance with specific regulations
in individual countries.
The plates provided by the Dealership
with the on board documentation
contain the date for the first inspection
of the cylinders. Methane refuelling
stations are not authorised to refill the
cylinders when the inspection date has
expired.

IMPORTANT If the vehicle has been
registered in a country other than Italy,
the certification data, identification
and inspection procedures for
the methane cylinders should conform
to the legislation in that country. In
any case, remember that the life of the
cylinders is 20 years from the
production date as set out in ECE
Regulation no. 110.

SELECTION OF
PETROL/METHANE
SUPPLY TYPE

This engine normally runs on methane
except during starting, when it runs
on petrol. The button A fig. 40 allows
drivers to select petrol or methane
operation.

Actual switching to the chosen supply
system takes place according to the
vehicle usage conditions, therefore
it might not be immediate. Switching is
indicated by the

warning light

coming on/off in the instrument panel.
In addition, when starting at outside
temperatures below approximately
–10°C, the switching times from petrol
to methane increase to allow the
pressure regulator/reduction unit to
heat up.
If methane runs out, switching to petrol
takes place automatically (the four
bars of the digital indicator on the
display switch off and the

warning

light switches on in the instrument
panel). The engine can still run for some
kilometres with methane supply before
switching to petrol operation.

SUPPLIES

Capacity: about 13 kg. The total
volume of cylinders is about 84 litres.

WARNING

40) The Fiat Punto Natural Power is
equipped with a high pressure methane
fuel supply system, designed to operate at
a rated pressure of 200 bar. It is dangerous
to stretch the system with higher
pressures. When towing or lifting the
vehicle, follow the instructions in the main
handbook under the paragraph on "Towing
the vehicle" to prevent damage to the
methane system parts. If there is a
problem with the methane system, only
contact a Fiat Dealership. Do not alter the
methane system configuration or
components; they are designed exclusively
for the Fiat Punto Natural Power. The use
of other components or materials could
cause malfunctions and reduce safety.

41) In the case of painting in an oven, the
cylinders should be removed from the
vehicle and refitted later by a Fiat Dealer.
Although the methane system has
numerous safety features, it is advisable to
close the manual cocks for the cylinders
every time the vehicle is not in use for
a long period, transported on other
vehicles or moved in an emergency as a
result of a breakdown or accident.

system that are not carried out correctly or
do not take the system technical
specifications into account can cause
malfunctions leading to a fire risk.

43) Do not switch between the two
operating modes whilst starting the engine.

WARNING

17) If, during methane operation, the same
runs out, the vehicle switches to petrol
automatically and all the bars of the digital
gauge on the display switch off; this
displaying remains until the next methane
refuelling.

18) Regardless of the last fuel system
used, at the following engine starting, after
the initial petrol stage, the system will
automatically switch to methane.

19) When switching from petrol to methane
is requested, a metal noise from the valves
which pressurise the circuit can be heard,
as it happens while starting the vehicle. For
the switching logic described above, a
delay between the valve ticking and the
switching off of the instrument panel
indication is completely normal.

20) In particular usage conditions, such as
starting and operation at low ambient

temporarily to petrol operation, without
indicating the performed switching. In the
event of low methane levels in the tank
or request for high performance (e.g.
overtaking, vehicle fully laden, steep hills)
the system may automatically switch to
petrol operation to guarantee the engine
power requested; the

warning light

on the instrument panel switches on to
indicate this. When the above conditions
are no longer present, the system
automatically restores methane operation;
the

warning light switches off. To

achieve the automatic switching described
above, make sure that there is always
enough fuel in the petrol tank.

GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR

The GSI (Gear Shift Indicator) system
advises the driver to change gear
through a specific indication on the
instrument panel. Through the GSI, the
driver is informed that the gear change
will allow a reduction in fuel
consumption.
"SHIFT UP" icon (

SHIFT): the GSI

suggests to make an upshifting
"SHIFT DOWN" icon (

SHIFT): the

GSI suggests to make a downshifting.
The icon remains displayed until a
gear is shifted or the driving conditions

TRIP COMPUTER

The Trip Computer can be used to
display information on vehicle operation
when the key is turned to MAR. This
function comprises two separate trips,
called “Trip A” and “Trip B”, where
the vehicle's "complete missions"
(journeys) are monitored in a
reciprocally independent manner.
“Trip A” displays the following values:
"Outside temperature", "Range",
"Distance travelled", "Average
consumption", "Instantaneous
consumption", "Average speed", "Trip
time (driving time)".
“Trip B” (for versions/markets, where
provided) displays the following values:
"Distance travelled B", "Average
consumption B", "Average speed B",
"Trip time (driving time) B". The “Trip B”
function may be excluded.
Both functions can be reset (reset
means start of a new journey).
To reset, hold the TRIP button on the
right steering wheel stalk pressed.

NOTE “Range” and “Instantaneous fuel
consumption" parameters cannot be
reset.
