immobiliser

applies

a

voltage

to

wire

4009,

the

c

ab

heater

is

also

switched

of

f

if

the

v

ehicle

m

ust

m

eet

requirements

for

the

transportation

of

hazardous

substances.

CHARGING

C

IRCUIT

When

the

ignition

is

switched

on,

power

is

supplied

to

both

the

B+

connection

and

connection

15

of

the

a

lternator

.

An

internal

resistor

in

the

alternator

is

energised

b

y

a

n

IC

in

the

carbon

brush

holder

.

This

resistor

ensures

that

a

low

level

o

f

current

passes

through

the

energising

resistor

.

T

his

e

xcites

a

magnetic

field

in

the

alternator

.

After

s

tarting,

the

v

oltage

on

terminals

B

+

and

15

will

rise

to

about

28.5

V

.

O

nce

this

v

oltage

is

reached,

the

IC

in

the

regulator

interrupts

the

pre-exciter

c

oil

to

enable

the

voltage

to

be

controlled.

The

m

agnetic

field

w

ill

now

disappear

,

s

o

that

the

generator

will

not

be

energised

for

a

s

hort

period

o

f

time.

As

a

result,

the

v

oltage

on

outputs

B

+

and

B15

will

drop.

The

regulator

reactivates

w

hen

the

v

oltage

drops

below

27.6

V

.

T

his

m

eans

that

the

generator

voltage

supply

remains

relatively

constant.

T

he

batteries

are

supplied

through

the

B

+

generator

output.

The

a

lternator

charging

current

warning

light

is

activated

v

ia

wire

1020

that

is

connected

to

the

V

IC.

(D900).

T

he

VIC

c

ontrols

the

D

IP

via

the

C

AN

network.

T

he

voltage

on

wire

1020

is

supplied

b

y

the

control

IC.

The

a

lternator

also

has

a

’sens

line.

This

connection

continuously

measures

the

v

oltage

on

connection

point

30

of

the

s

tarter

motor

.

If

the

v

oltage

on

connection

point

30

drops,

the

voltage

is

immediately

c

orrected

b

y

the

control

IC.

The

a

lternator

will

increase

the

voltage

until

a

v

alue

of

28.5

V

is

reached

again.
