Failure: injector circuit error in Cylinder 3 

Step Operation 

Result  Solution 

Connect scanner and commutator, and then turn 
ignition switch to “ON”. 

 

Go to next step

Yes 

Go to Step 4 

Unplug Cylinder 3 injector connector from wire 
harness, check the voltage between Pin 1 of the 
connector and cathode of power supply with a 
multimeter to see if it is around 12V. 

No 

Go to next step

Yes 

Repair or 
replace wire 
harness 

Check the connection between Pin 1 of Cylinder 3 
injector connector and main relay to see if open 
circuit or short circuit to ground occurs. 

No 

Go to next step

Yes 

Go to next step

Check the resistance between Pin 1 and Pin 2 of 
Cylinder 3 injector with a multimeter to see if it is 
around 11-16Ω at 20℃. 

No 

Replace 
injector 

Yes 

Diagnosis 
Instruction 

Check the voltage between Pin 2 of Cylinder 3 
injector connector and cathode of power supply 
with a multimeter to see if it is around 3.7V. 

No 

Go to next step

Yes 

Repair or 
replace wire 
harness 

Check the connection between Pin 2 of Cylinder 3 
injector connector and Pin 78 of ECU to see if open, 
short circuit to power/ground occurs. 

No 

Diagnosis

Failure: injector circuit error in Cylinder 4

Connect scanner and commutator, and then turn 
ignition switch to “ON”.

Go to Step 4 

Unplug Cylinder 4 injector connector from wire 
harness, check the voltage between Pin 1 of the 
connector and cathode of power supply with a 
multimeter to see if it is around 12V. 

No 

Go to next step

Yes 

Repair or 
replace wire 
harness 

Check the connection between Pin 1 of Cylinder 4 
injector connector and main relay to see if open 
circuit or short circuit to ground occurs. 

No 

Go to next step

Yes 

Go to next step

Check the resistance between Pin 1 and Pin 2 of 
Cylinder 4 injector with a multimeter to see if it is 
around 11-16Ω at 20℃. 

No 

Replace 
injector 

Check the voltage between Pin 2 of Cylinder 4 
injector connector and cathode of power supply

Connect scanner and commutator, and then turn 
ignition switch to “OFF”.

Go to Step 4 

Unplug fuel pump relay, turn ignition switch to 
“ON”, check respectively the voltage between Pin 
30 of relay and cathode of power supply, Pin 86 of 
relay (i.e. power supply terminals of fuel pump 
relay) and cathode of power supply to see if it is 
around 12V. 

No 

Go to next step

Yes 

Repair or 
replace wire 
harness 

Check power supply terminal circuit of relay to see 
if open circuit or short circuit to ground occurs. 

No 

Go to Step 2 

Yes 

Replace fuel 
pump relay 

Check the voltage between Pin 85 of fuel pump 
relay (control terminal) and cathode of power 
supply with a multimeter to see if it is around 3.7V. 

No 

Go to next step

Yes 

Repair or 
replace wire 
harness 

Check the connection between Pin 85 of relay and 
Pin 15 of ECU to see if open, short circuit to 
power/ground occurs. 

No

Failure: circuit error of knock sensor

Connect scanner and commutator, and then turn 
ignition switch to “OFF”.

Unplug knock sensor connector from wire harness, 
check the resistance between Pin 1 and Pin 2 of 
knock sensor with a multimeter to see if it is greater 
than 1MΩ. 

No Replace

of knock sensor connector and Pin 56 of ECU, Pin 2 
of knock sensor connector and Pin 70 of ECU to see

Instruction 

Replace knock sensor as per specification, trial run 
the engine at a speed higher than 2200RPM. 
Recheck to see if failure code occurs again 
(meanwhile check shield wire of knock sensor to 
see if it is normally connected to Pin 63 of ECU). 

No 

Check to see if 
it is random 
failure 

 

Failure: signal error of crankshaft position sensor

Connect scanner and commutator, and then turn 
ignition switch to “OFF”.

Unplug engine speed sensor connector from wire 
harness, check the resistance between Pin 2 and Pin 
3 of engine speed sensor with a multimeter to see if 
it is around 1260Ω at 20℃. 

No Replace

Check repectively the connections between Pin 2 of 
engine speed sensor and Pin 53 of ECU, Pin 3 of 
engine speed sensor and Pin 67 to see if open, short 
circuit to power/ground occurs.

Check signal panel of flywheel to see if it is in good 
condition.

Failure: improper signal from crankshaft position sensor

it is around 1260Ω±10% at 20℃.

Failure: driver stage control circuit error of carbon canister control valve

Connect scanner and commutator, and then turn 
ignition switch to “ON”.

Unplug carbon canister control valve connector 
from wire harness, check the voltage between Pin 1 
of connector and cathode of power supply with a 
multimeter to see if it is around 12V. 

No 

Go to next step

Repair or 
replace wire

Check power supply terminal wiring of carbon 
canister control valve to see if open circuit or short 
circuit to ground occurs. 

No

Check the resistance between Pin 1 and Pin 2 of 
carbon canister control valve with a multimeter to 
see if it is between 17.5-23.5Ω  at 20℃. 

No 

Replace

Check the voltage between Pin 2 of carbon canister 
control valve connector and cathode of power 
supply with a multimeter to see if it is around 3.7V.

canister control valve connector and Pin 52 of ECU 
to see if open circuit occurs. 

No

Failure: too low driver stage control circuit voltage of carbon canister
