The engine’s motion brings along the rotation of case and impeller on the torque converter. The

hydraulic fluid in the impeller dashes from the outside edge of impeller blade to the worm gear

under the centrifugal force to bring along the worm gear’s rotation.

hen the worm gear transfers power, the output torque changes, but not equivalent to the input

torque. The pump roller, worm gear and guide roller’s blades are designed to deflect for certain

degree in order to improve the worm gear’s output torque.

The guide roller is fixed on the converter’s case. The guide roller’s blade is deflected for certain

degree to form circulated fluid flow and increase the worm gear’s output torque. When the vehicle

is started, the worm gear’s output torque could be doubled. The influence of the out torque of the

guide roller on that of the worm gear is related with RPM difference between them. With bigger

difference on their RPM, the worm gear’s output torque is increased or changed more considerably.

When the worm gear stands still, the torque is increased to the maximum. Along with an increased

RPM of the engine’s output shaft, the output torque’s change becomes smaller gradually until the

uivalent to the input torque. At this time, the torque converter only serves as a

inside the planetary gear mechanism. Due to the hydraulic control and

continuous lubrication, there is no friction during power transfer and mechanical friction on the

gearshift elements. Hence, regular adjustment is not necessary.

Brake band

The drum and hub are engaged through tensioning of the hydraulic cylinder’s control brake band in

order to lock the sun gear. Since there is no friction, the brake band could be used continuously.
