paint and decorating components;
If there are chips and scratches in
the paint, please repair it immediately
in order to prevent corrosion from
staring at this location. If the chips and
scratches have gone though the bare
metal surface, please contact the BYD
authorized dealer for repair.
Check the interior of your F3DM; Water
and dirt will accumulate beneath the
floor mats and could cause corrosion.
Please check the underside of the
floor mats occasionally to make sure
the area is dry. Please pay particular
attention when transporting chemicals,
cleansers, fertilizer, salt and similar
materials which should be transported
in proper containers. In case of any
spillage or leakage, please clean and
dry the affected area immediately.
Use mudguard. When driving in salted
roads or roads with gravel, mudguard

would protect your vehicle from mud.
The larger the size of mudguard and
lower clearance altitude are the better
protection your vehicle will get. Small
mudguard for wheel cover is optional
for BYD F3DM, installation of which is
available at BYD authorized dealer.
Park the vehicle in a well ventilated
garage or a roofed place rather than
in a damp or poorly ventilated place.
If you wash your car in the garage
or drive on a wet or snowy road, the
garage may get damp and it will cause
corrosion.  Even  though  the  garage
is dry, the car will also get damp and
suffer corrosion if the ventilation is
poor.

Tips on Maintenance of

Vehicle Paint

Please pay attention to the following
points in using and maintaining of the

car:
( 1 )   C l e a n   t h e   d i r t   o n   t h e   c a r
b e f o r e ,   d u r i n g   a n d   a f t e r   u s i n g
your vehicle, which can minimize
a d h e r e d   d i r t   b y   e l e c t r o s t a t i c .
(2)  Wash  your  F3DM  timely  after
rain. The rain stain on the car body
will shrink in size after rain, which
means acid materials in the rain will
concentrate. Clean the taint as soon
as possible to avoid harm to your
vehicle finish caused by the taint.
(3)  Wash  the  car  after  the  engine
cools down. Do not wash your car
in strong sunlight or under high
temperature, otherwise the detergent
will form taint on the paint surface
after  quick  drying.    If  washing  the
car by yourself, please use special-
purpose detergent and neutral active
water. Do not use mild soap water and
detergent with high alkaline, which

may wash away grease in the paint
and speed up aging. When washing
the car in car wash, you’d better
prevent the staff from using grease-
removing detergent, or the paint may
be damaged. When driving your car
in coastal areas with heavy pollution,
you shall wash the car on a daily basis.
(4) Use damp, clean and soft cotton
mitt to wipe the car, and make sure
metal and sand article does not exist in
it. Do not use dry cloth, sponge or towel
to wipe it to avoid scratching the paint.
When wiping, move the cloth gently
along the running water, and do not
move in circle or perpendicular to the
running water. Do not rub or press hard
in case that you may scratch the paint.
(5)  Clean  some  special  traces  with
very strong causticity as soon as
possible  (such  as  asphalt,  bird
manure  and  insect  remains).  For

such things, please clean them with
special cleanser and do not scratch
them with a blade or clear them
up with gasoline in order to avoid
causing damage to vehicle finish.
(6)  Pay  attention  to  not  touching
the paint with oily and dirty hands
or wiping it with an oily rag; please
do not stick any oily tools or put
cloth with organic solvent on the
car, to avoid chemical reaction.
(7) If there is no obvious scratch, do
not make repainting as the new paint
color may vary from the original paint.
(8)  In  case  that  the  car  will  not  be
used for a long period, please park it
in a well-ventilated garage or a similar
place, and use a special-purposed
car cover in winter. For a short period
parking, please select a shade place.
(9)  Prevent  strong  impact,  knock
or scratch to the paint. If the paint

is scratched, sinking or peeling off,
please make repair in time, and
you are recommended to go to a
professional auto beauty store.

(11)High qualified cleaner is needed
when washing your decorative parts.
Do not use excessive force when
waxing to prevent the base layer from
exposing when the paint is penetrated.
Apply wax on the paint film and go

remarkably dirty with dust and mud.

Warning

Do not splash water on the
electric components in the engine
compartment in case that the
malfunction of electric components
occurs.

Hand-washing your BYD F3DM
Work in the shade and wait until the
car body is not hot to touch.

Notice

Please be careful not to injure your
hands when cleaning under floor or
chassis.

1. Rinse off loose dirt with a hose.
Remove any mud or road salt in the
underside of your car or in the wheel
wells.
2. Wash with a mild car-wash soap and
mixed detergent should accord with
the manufacturer’s instructions. Use a
soft cloth dripping the cleaner and wipe
your car gently. Do not use excessive
force and let soap and clean water
remove the dirt.

3. Rinse thoroughly. Dried soap may
cause streaking. You may need to
rinse each section right after you wash
it.
4. To avoid water streak, please dry the
body with dried soft cotton towel. Do
not rub or press hard, or the paint may
be damaged.
Plastic wheel ornaments
The plastic wheel ornaments may be
damaged by organic substances. If any
organic substances spill on ornaments,
please wash it off with clean water and
check whether the ornaments are hurt.

Warning

Do not install damaged plastic wheel
ornaments, or they may drop off the

Aluminum Wheels: Wash it only with
neutral soap water or neutral detergent.
Plastic bumpers: Wash carefully. Don’t
use soap water with abrasive cleaners
because bumper face is soft.
Road tar: Remove with turpentine or
cleaners marked as non-harmful to the
painted surface.

Notice

Do not use organic substances
(gasoline, kerosene, naphtha, and
strong solvent) as they may be toxic
or cause damage.

Automatic Car Washing
Your vehicle may be washed in an
automatic car wash, but please notice
that some types of brushes, unfiltered
water, and the wash process adopted
by the machine may cause the paint

scratched. Damages to the paint
surface will reduce its durability and
gloss, especially for dark vehicles. Staff
from carwash may advise you about
washing process proper for your car.

Notice

To prevent damage to the antenna,
make sure to remove it before
driving it though an automatic car
wash.

Waxing BYD F3DM
Polishing and waxing is suggested to
maintain the original beauty of your
vehicle.
Waxing shall be done once per month
or if the car body doesn’t repel water
well.
1. Please wash and dry the car body
before waxing, even if you use a

combined cleaner and wax.
2. Please use polish and car wax
with high quality. If the paint has been
seriously weathered, please use the
cleaning polish followed by a separate
wax. Follow the instructions and
precautions from the manufacturer
carefully. Make sure that polishing and
waxing is needed for the chrome as
well as the paint.
3.  Wax  your  car  again  when  water
does not bead but remains on the
surface in large patches.

Warning

Always remove the plastic bumpers
if your car is re-painted and placed
in a high heat paint waxing booth.
High  temperature  may  cause
damage to the bumpers.

Cleaning the interior

Notice

Do not wash the floor with water,
or allow the water to flow onto the
floor while cleaning the interior and
exterior; otherwise water may enter
the audio devices or other electric
components above or under the
carpet (or mat), which may result in
fire or  malfunction of the devices
and corrosion of the car body.
Do not splash water or spill liquid on
the floor. This may prevent the side
airbags from activating correctly,
which may result serious injury.

Carpets
Please use high quality foam cleaner
to clean the carpet.
First use the dust collector to remove
as much dust as possible. Several
types of foam cleaners are applicable:
some are packed in aerosol can, and
others are powders or liquids which
shall be mixed with water to produce
foam.  Rub in overlapping circles.
Do not use water so as to keep the
carpet dry. Please read and follow the
detergent instructions closely.

Seat Belts
The seat belt can be washed with mild
soap or lukewarm water.
Use sponge or soft cloth to clean it.
Check the belts for excessive wear or
fraying, or cuts.

y

Long exposure to direct sunlight

may cause the surface of the

leather to harden and shrink.
Thus, please keep your car in
shade, especially in the Summer.

y

Temperature in the interior may

increase easily during the hot
summer day. Avoid placing the
items made of vinyl or plastic or
