Overview

Press the Climate soft-key located on
the bottom centre of the display to
access the climate on-screen controls
fig. 20.
To turn the Climate system ON press
the ON soft-key.
The Climate icon indicates the current
mode of the system: OFF (disabled), A
(automatic) air distribution symbol (air
distribution manual setting).
Press the soft-key located on the
centre of the display to access the
settings list such as: Heated Seat
(Driver & Passenger), Vented Seat
(Driver & Passenger) and Heated
Wheel. Refer to Climate Controls in
your vehicles Owner’s Manual for
further details.

On-Screen Controls

Front Climate (fig. 21)

A. AUTO function activation

(automatic operation).

Driver side set temperature.

Passenger side set temperature.

D. Air distribution.

System and follow the instructions in
this manual.

Overview

This Navigation System can be used
when the ignition key is turned to RUN
or ACC. To preserve the battery,
however, it should be used with the
engine running whenever possible.
Using the Navigation System for a long
time with the engine switched off can
cause the battery to run down.

Map Data Information

Garmin uses a combination of
governmental and private data
sources. Virtually all data sources
contain some inaccurate or incomplete
data. In some countries, complete and
accurate map information is either not
available or is prohibitively expensive.

Getting started

To access the Navigation System, touch
the Nav soft-key on bottom of the
screen fig. 23.

Setting the System

When using your Navigation System
for the first time, complete the
following tasks.

Acquire satellites.

Understand the main menu.

Acquiring Satellites

Go to an open area, away from tall
buildings and trees.
Acquiring satellite signals can take a
few minutes.

Finding a Point of Interest

The detailed maps loaded in your
Navigation System contain points of
interest, such as restaurants, hotels,
and auto services.

Finding a Location by Spelling the

Name

1. From the main menu, touch

Adding Points to the Active

Route

1. While navigating a route, touch

to return to the main menu.

2. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

3. Select a category.

4. If necessary, select a subcategory.

5. Select a destination.

6. Touch Go!

7. Touch Add as a Via Point.

Changing Destination of the

Active Route

Before you can change destinations,
you must be navigating a route.

1. Touch

to return to the main

menu.

2. Touch Where To?

3. Search for the location.

4. Touch Go!

5. Touch Set as a New Destination.

Taking a Detour

While navigating a route, you can use
detours to avoid obstacles ahead of
you, such as construction zones.
If the route you are currently taking is
the only reasonable option, the
Navigation System might not calculate
a detour.

The Where To? menu B fig. 24 provides
several different categories you can
use to search for locations. To perform

Finding an Address

Depending on the version of the built
in map data on your Navigation
System, the button names and the
order of steps could be different than
the steps below.

From the main menu, touch
Where To?

Touch Address.

If necessary, change the state,
the country, or the province.

Touch Spell City.

Enter the city/postal code. If you
are unsure of the city/postal
code, touch Search All.

Touch Done.

If necessary, select the
city/postal code. Not all map
data provides postal code
searching.

Enter the number of the
address.

Touch Done.

10. Enter the street name.

11. Touch Done.

12. If necessary, select the street.

13. If necessary, select the address.

14. Touch Done.

Using the Go! page

The Go! page opens when you select a
location to navigate to.
• Touch

to call the selected location

when your device is connected to
phone, or to save the location to
your favorites.

• Touch

to switch between 2-D and

3-D view.

• Touch

to rotate the view.

• Touch the name of the location to

view more information.

• Touch

to zoom in and out.

• Touch

to return to the previous

page.

• Touch and hold

to return to the

main menu.

• Touch Go! to create a turn-by-turn

route to this location.

Going Home (setting a home

location)

Before you can navigate to home, you
must set a home location.
You can set your home location for
the location you return to most often.

1. From the main menu, touch

3. Select Enter My Address, Use My

Current Location, or Recently
Found.

Resetting Home Location

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To? then

2. Select Set Home Location.

3. Select an option to change your

Viewing a List of Recently

Found Locations

Your navigation system stores the last
50 locations you have found.

From the main menu, touch
Where To?

Touch Recently Found.

Clearing List of Recently Found

Locations

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

2. Touch Recently Found.

3. Touch

then Clear.

4. Enter Yes.

About Favorites

You can save locations in your
Favorites so you can quickly find them
and create routes to them.
Your home location is also stored in
Favorites.

Saving Current Location to Favorites

From the map, touch the vehicle
icon.

Touch Save.

Enter a name.

Touch Done.

The location is saved in Favorites.
Saving Locations to Favorites

1. Search for the location.

2. From the Go! page, touch

then Save.

3. Enter OK.

Finding Favorites

From the main menu, touch
Where To?

Touch Favorites. If necessary,
select a category.

Select a saved location.

Editing Favorites

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

2. Touch Favorites.

3. Select a category.

4. Select a favorite.

5. Touch the information box.

6. Touch

then Edit.

7. Select an option:

• Name
• Phone Number
• Categories
• Change Map Symbol

8. Edit the information.

9. Touch Done.

Planning a Trip

You can use Trip Planner to create and
save a trip with multiple destinations.

From the main menu, touch
Where To?

Touch Trip Planner.

Touch

Touch Select Start Location.

Navigation Mode

Touch Select.

to add an additional

Repeat steps 5–7 to add
additional locations to your trip.

Navigating to a Saved Trip

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

2. Touch Trip Planner.

3. Select a saved trip.

4. Touch Go!

Editing a Saved Trip

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

2. Touch Trip Planner.

3. Select a saved trip.

4. Touch

5. Select an option:

• Touch Rename Trip to edit the

trip name.

• Touch Edit Destinations to add

or delete locations.

• Touch Delete Trip to delete the

entire trip.

• Touch Optimize Order to

arrange your trip locations in
the most efficient order.

Browsing the Map

Browsing the Map by touching

Finding a Location by using the Map

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

2. Touch Browse Map.

3. Touch a location. An information

box appears next to the location.

4. Touch the information box.

5. To select an option touch

then Save.

6. Touch Go!

Setting a Simulated Location
You can use the GPS simulator to
select another location, near which
you can search for and save points of
interest. This may be helpful when
planning trips.

1. From the main menu, touch

Settings then System, GPS
Simulator, On and Save.

2. From the main menu, touch

Where To? then Browse Map.

3. Touch an area on the map.

Entering Coordinates

If you know the geographic
coordinates of your destination, you
can use your navigation system to
navigate to the destination using the
latitude and longitude coordinates.

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

2. Touch Coordinates.

3. Touch a field to enter the

latitude and longitude data.

4. Touch View on Map.

5. Touch Go!

Changing the Map Coordinate Format

1. From the main menu, touch

Where To?

2. Touch Coordinates then

3. Select a format.

4. Enter OK.

Viewing the map pages

Notice

Your route is marked with a magenta
line. A checkered flag marks your
destination.
As you travel, your navigation system
guides you to your destination with
voice prompts, arrows on the map, and
directions at the top of the map. If you
depart from the original route, your
navigation system recalculates the
route and provides new directions.
A speed limit icon displaying the
current speed limit may appear as you
travel on major roadways.

Using the Navigation Map

Touch View Map C fig. 24 to open the
map menu fig. 26.

• The vehicle icon shows your current

location.

• Touch an area of the map to see

additional information.

• Touch

to view the next turn. The

turn indicator also tells you which
lane you should be in to prepare for
your next maneuver, when available.

• Touch the text bar on the top of the

About myTrends™

When myTrends™ feature is enabled,
your estimated time of arrival and
traffic information for your frequent
destinations, like your workplace,
automatically appear in the
navigation bar at the top of the map.
When myTrends™ information
appears in the navigation bar, you can
touch the navigation bar to view
route options for the suggested
destination.
Enabling myTrends™
• From the main menu touch Settings.
• Touch Navigation and select

myTrends™.

• Enter Enabled.

Driving

From the map, touch the B fig. 26
Driving field.
This function allows to select travel
data to display:
• Travel direction.
• Altitude.
• Day time.

Viewing Trip Information

The trip information page fig. 27
displays your present speed and
provides statistics about your trip. If

you make frequent stops, leave the
navigation system turned on so it can
accurately measure elapsed time
during the trip.
From the map, touch the D fig. 26
Speed field. If you want accurate trip
information, reset the trip information
before beginning a trip.

Resetting Trip Information

1. From the map, touch the Speed

field.

2. Touch

3. Select an option:

• Touch Reset Trip Mileage to

reset the information on the
trip computer.

• Touch Reset Max. Speed to

reset the maximum speed.

Viewing the Turn List

When you are navigating a route, you
can view all of the turns for your
entire route and the distance between
turns.

1. From the map, touch the text bar

on the top of the map.

2. Select an option:

• Select a turn on the list to view

the next turn.

• Touch

then Map to view

the entire route on the map.

Viewing the Next Turn

Before you can view the next turn,
you must be navigating a route.
The next turn shows the turn on the
map and the distance and time left
before you reach the turn.
Touch the turn indicator in the top left
corner of the map.

Viewing the Junction View

Before you can view the junction view,
you must be navigating a route. The
junction view displays a view of some
upcoming junctions and in which lane
you should be driving.

Using the Tools

From the main menu, touch Tools F fig.
24 to access the list fig. 28.

Where Am I? (current location

information)

Use the Where Am I? page to view
information about your current
location fig. 28. This feature is helpful
if you need to tell emergency
personnel your location.
Finding Nearby Services

1. From the main menu, touch Tools

then Where Am I?

2. Touch Hospitals, Police Stations,

or Fuel to view the nearest
locations in that category.

Using Help

From the main menu, touch Tools then
Help to view information about using
your navigation system.
Searching Help Topics
From the main menu, touch Tools then
Help.

My Data

Use My Data page to set or delete
personal travel data. From the main
menu, touch Tools then My Data.
• Set Home position.
• Delete My Positions.
• Delete travel record.
• Delete Personal points of Interest.

Trip Planner

You can use Trip Planner to create and
save a trip with multiple destinations.
From the main menu, touch Tools then
Trip Planner. See Planning a Trip in the
Where To? section.

Using the World Clock

1. From the main menu, touch Tools

then World Clock.

2. Select a city name fig. 29.

3. Enter a new city name.

4. Touch Done.

5. If necessary, select a city.

Viewing the World Map

1. From the main menu, touch Tools

then World Clock.

2. Touch

3. Nighttime hours appear in the

shaded area.

Using the Calculator
