P0106 INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

PRECONDITIONING

Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 12 minutes.

>> GO TO 2.

2.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

Start engine and let it idle for at least 2 seconds.

2.

Check DTC.

Is DTC detected?

YES

>> Proceed to 

ECH-166, "Diagnosis Procedure"

.

NO

>> INSPECTION END

Diagnosis Procedure

1.

CHECK INTAKE SYSTEM

Check the following for connection.
• Intake manifold pressure sensor
• Air duct
• Vacuum hoses
• Intake air passage between air duct and intake manifold.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair or replace malfunctioning part.

2.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR AND ECM HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTIONS

Check intake manifold pressure sensor harness connector connection F99 and ECM harness connector con-
nection F18.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair or replace intake manifold pressure sensor or ECM harness connector connection.

3.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

1.

Disconnect intake manifold pressure sensor harness connector.

2.

Turn ignition switch ON.

3.

Check the voltage between intake manifold pressure sensor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

DTC No.

NO

>> Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

4.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

1.

Turn ignition switch OFF.

2.

Disconnect ECM harness connector.

3.

Check the continuity between intake manifold pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness con-
nector.

4.

Also check harness for short to ground and power.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 5.

NO

>> Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

5.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

1.

Check the continuity between intake manifold pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness con-
nector.

2.

Also check harness for short to ground and power.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 6.

NO

>> Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

6.

CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT

Refer to 

GI-41, "Intermittent Incident"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> Replace intake manifold pressure sensor.

NO

>> Repair or replace harness or connectors.

1.

PRECONDITIONING

1.

Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 8 seconds.

2.

Check DTC.

Is DTC detected?

YES

>> Proceed to 

ECH-168, "Diagnosis Procedure"

NO

>> INSPECTION END

Diagnosis Procedure

1.

CHECK ECM HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTION

1.

Turn ignition switch OFF.

2.

Check ECM connector connection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair or replace ECM connector connection.

2.

CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTION

Check engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector connection.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair or replace engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector connection.

3.

CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

1.

Disconnect ECM harness connector.

2.

Check the continuity engine coolant temperature sensor circuit.

3.

Also check harness for short to ground and short to power. 

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 6.

DTC No.

• Engine coolant temperature sensor voltage sig-

nal above maximum threshold for 1 second or 
more.

• Engine coolant temperature sensor voltage sig-

nal below minimum threshold for 1 second or 
more.

• Abnormal coolant temperature gradient for 8 

seconds or more.

• Harness or connectors

(Engine coolant temperature 
sensor circuit is open or shorted.)

• Engine coolant temperature sen-

CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT

1.

Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector.

2.

Check the continuity between engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector and ECM harness
connector.

3.

Also check harness for short to ground and short to power. 

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 5.

NO

>> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

5.

CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT

1.

Check the continuity between engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector and ECM harness
connector.

2.

Also check harness for short to ground and short to power. 

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 6.

NO

>> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

6.

CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT 

Check intermittent incident. Refer to 

GI-41, "Intermittent Incident"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> Replace engine coolant temperature sensor.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.
