Inspection Procedure 3: The Windshield Wipers do not Stop at The Specified Park Position

CAUTION

Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The windshield wiper motor or the ETACS-ECU may 
be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the windshield wiper motor

• Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

• Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list
Check if the ETACS-ECU receives the windshield 
wiper auto-stop signal.

YES : 

Go to Step 3.

NO : 

Repair the connector.

STEP 3. Check the windshield wiper motor 
assembly.

P.51-71

.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES <LH drive vehicles> : 

Go to Step 4.

YES <RH drive vehicles> : 

Go to Step 8.

NO : 

Replace the windshield wiper motor 
assembly.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at the A-05 
windshield wiper motor connector.

(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the 

wiring harness side.

(2) Ignition switch: ACC

(3) Check the voltage between the A-05 windshield 

wiper motor connector terminal No.1 and body 
earth.

OK: System voltage

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 6.

NO : 

Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between A-05 
windshield wiper motor connector terminal No.1 
and ignition switch (ACC).

junction block connectors C-207, C-210, and repair if 
necessary.

• Check the power supply line to ignition switch 

(ACC) for open circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent

Repair the wiring harness.

connector

junction block connector C-210, and repair if neces-
sary.

• Check the input signal lines.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 12.

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness.

wiper motor connector terminal No.3 and body 
earth.

OK: System voltage

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 10.

NO : 

Go to Step 9.

windshield wiper motor connector terminal No.3 
and ignition switch (ACC).
