Gear cable incorrectly adjusted 

Check whether gear cable is drawn to P gear; adjust cable 
position if not so, making shifting bar below transmission 
reach the furtherest point. Manual shift ball placed at 
P-position fastening blot; 

P-position locking device fails or broken 

If manual brake released at P-position and this vehicle 
moved to-and-fro freely, it is assumed locking device of 
P-position fails, or P locking plate wears, ruptures. 
Replace locking plate or repair locking device; 

Parking gear fails 

Auto transmission malfunction 

Check whether P-position tie rod within transmission 
bends or deforms; check whether P-position locking block 
ruptures, making it unable to lock output shaft;

No. 132 Gear indicator lamp off sometimes   

Malfunction Causes 

Solution 

Combined instrument malfunction 

Take out N-position switch plug, short-connected N-position or 
P-position tie-line, with long-time check; check whether 
position lamp short-connected is normal. If malfunction exists, 
check whether tie-line of N-position switch and combination 
instrument is normal; replace combination instrument if 
normal; shake combination instrument properly, and check 
normal or not; replace combination instrument if abnormal 
(other positions and the like)

A/T switch malfunction 

Check contact on A/T switch, and replace A/T switch if 
necessary; check earth wire is falsely connected; fix earth 
wire. 

Gear contact sheet within transmission 

Remove oil drip pan; check gear contact sheet is poorly 
contacted;

No.133 Auto transmission with abnormal sound   

Malfunction Causes 

Solution 

Oil quantity and quality 

Oil filled between 2-4 holes of dip stick. Oil is too much, causing abnormal 
sound with parts rotation. Oil too little, and each friction pair lack of 
lubrication, causing abnormal sound. Check idling speed is normal and 
engine temperature is normal. For N-position, check oil level is normal, 
and fill transmission oil if not sufficient. If dirty, replace transmission oil. 

Torque converter malfunction 

Check abnormal sound of transmission is in front or at rear. If in front, 
<engine side> start vehicle, step on brake, and put into driving position. If 
noise too large, check turbo pulley within torque converter works 
normally. Listen carefully unusual noise is from crankshaft rear, 
transmission front, and if noise is wheezy, it is abnormal sound of torque 
converter; replace torque converter assembly;   

Oil pump malfunction 

Abnormal sound in middle, slow shifting, oil pressure insufficient. Check 
clearance between oil pump rotor and casing, plate, which shall be within 
standard range; 

Planet gear mechanism 

Check planet gear mechanism is worn or broken, and thrust bearing, 
thrust disc is damaged. Replace it if so.   

Auto transmission

Out shaft axle differential with 
abnormal sound 

Check meshing mark of output shaft and gear ring is normal; replace 
output shaft and gear ring if abnormal; check whether differential bearing 
is loosening. Shaking with hands shall be without loosening sound, and 
ball bearing track not flaked; replace differential bearing if abnormal; 
check differential planet gear, shaft could grind step. Replace differential 
assembly if worn.
