Remove the thrust bearing 3. Use the needle bearing puller, special tool (DAF no. 0694827), to remove the needle bearings. For 182N and 186N axles the additional set, special tool (DAF no. 0694937), should be fitted to the needle bearing puller. The additional set consists of a bush (C) and a thrust piece (D). 4. Insert the bush (C) in the needle bearings (1). 5. Place the sleeve (B) on the swivel axle ear. 6. Fit the threaded end (A) into the sleeve (B) and through bush (C). 7. Screw the thrust piece (D) on the threaded spindle, until it abuts bush C. 8. Pull the needle bearings from the outside to the inside of the swivel axle (see the arrows in the drawing). When the needle bearings (1) are removed from the swivel axle, the oil seal (2) will also be removed. 9. The lowest needle bearings (3) are removed from the swivel axle in the same way (from the outside to the inside). Installation of needle bearings To prevent the needle bearings from becoming damaged while being inserted, use special tool (DAF no. 0694827). For the 182N and 186N axles, the special tool must be supplemented with special tool (DAF no. 0694937). Note: The needle bearings have different lengths. The longest needle bearings must be fitted in the lowest part of the swivel axle. 2. Apply plenty of grease to the needle bearings. S7 00 550 1 2 3 B C D A |
