Supercharged vehicles (if equipped) have additional cooling system components. The Charge Air Cooler (2), Charge DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PRELIMINARY CHECKS Determine what driving conditions caused the complaint. One or more of the following conditions may be the cause • Prolonged Idle • Very High Ambient Temperature • Slow Traffic • Traffic Jams • High Speed • Steep Grades Driving techniques to help avoid overheating are: • Idle with A/C off, when the temperature gauge is at the end of the normal range. 1. RECENT SERVICE OR ACCIDENT REPAIR: Determine if any recent service has been performed on the vehicle that may affect the cooling system operation. • Engine adjustments (incorrect timing) • Slipping engine accessory drive belt(s) • Brakes (possibly dragging) • Changed parts.
