Section Seven Piston and Connecting Rod Assembly
One. Checking the connecting rod and
bearing
(1) Meausre the connecting rod bearing
clearance with a clearance gauge (Figure
79).
(2) Lubricate the new bolts with engine
oil before screwing them on.
(3) Screw on the bolts.
(4) Screw on the bolts with a torque of
26N.m +1/4 turn. Do not use pneumatic
tools.
(5) Check the connecting rod side
clearance with a gauge (Figure 80) (see
Engine-Specifications).
Two. Check the cylinder cover and
piston
1. Measuring
Clean and blow dry the piston and
cylinder. Measure the piston diameter in
90 degree position, or about 14mm (see
Figure 82 for measurement position).
