Check for an open in the wire:

1 Disconnect the jumper wire.

2. Disconnect the condenser fan

2P connector.

3. Check for continuity between

the No. 3 terminal of the con-

denser fan relay 4P socket and

the No. 2 terminal of the con-

denser fan 2P connector.

Is there continuity?

Is there continuity?

Repair open in the wire between

the condenser fan and the radia-
tor fan main relay.

Test the radiator fan main relay
(see page 

22-64

).

Is the relay OK?

Replace the radiator fan main
relay.

Replace the condenser fan motor.

Check for an open in the wire:

1. Remove the radiator fan main

relay from the under-hood
relay box A.

2. Check for continuity between

the No. 1 terminal of the con-
denser fan 2P connector and
the No. 5 terminal of the radi-
ator fan main relay 5P socket.

Check for an open in the wire:

1. Disconnect the jumper wire.

2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
3. Measure the voltage between

the No. 2 terminal of the con-

denser fan relay 4P socket
and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?

CONDENSER FAN RELAY 4P SOCKET

Repair open in the wire between

the No. 3 fuse and the condenser
fan relay.

FAN CONTROL UNIT 12P CONNECTOR

Is there battery voltage?

Repair open in the wire between
the condenser fan relay and the

fan control unit.

Wire side of female terminals

Check for loose wires or poor
connections at the fan control
unit 12P connector. If the connec-
tions are good, substitute a
known-good fan control unit, and
recheck. If the symptom/indi-
cation goes away, replace origi-
nal fan control unit.

Check for an open in the wire:

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF,

then reinstall the condenser
fan relay.

2. Disconnect the fan control unit

12P connector.

3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
4. Measure the voltage between

the No. 10 terminal and body
ground.

Both Fans Low Speed

Both fans do not run at low speed
(but both fans run at high speed).

Check for an open in the wire:

1. Remove the radiator fan main

relay from the under-hood
relay box A.

2. Disconnect the radiator fan 2P

connector.

3. Check for continuity between

the No. 2 terminal of the radi-
ator fan main relay 5P socket
and the No. 2 terminal of the

radiator fan 2P connector.

NOTE: It is normal for both fans to run at high speed when the system pressure is above
1,520 kPa (15.5 kgf/cm

2

, 220 psi), or when the engine coolant temperature is above 194°F

(90°C).

Is there continuity?

Repair open in the wire between
the radiator fan main relay and
the radiator fan.

Replace the radiator fan main
relay.
