20. Remove the oil pan.  

CRANKSHAFT & PISTON REMOVAL 

1. Remove the engine assembly (see ENGINE REMOVAL ).  

2. Remove the transmission.

Manual transmission (see TRANSMISSION REMOVAL ).  

z

Automatic transmission (see TRANSMISSION REMOVAL ).  

3. Remove the oil pan (see OIL PAN REMOVAL ).  

4. Remove the oil pump (see OIL PUMP REMOVAL ).  

5. Remove the cylinder head (see CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL ).  

6. Remove the baffle plates.

7. Remove the 8 mm bolts in sequence.

8. Remove the bearing cap bolts. To prevent warpage, unscrew the bolts in sequence 1/3 turn at a time: 

repeat the sequence until all bolts are loosened.

9. Remove the lower block and bearings. Keep all bearing in order.
