FRONT SEAT RECLINE MOTOR REPLACEMENT 

8-Way Power Seat 

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, and the precautions and 
procedures in the SRS section before performing repairs or service. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS . 

1. Remove the front seat (see FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).  

2. Remove the seat-back cover/pad from the seat-back frame (see FRONT SEAT COVER 

REPLACEMENT ).  

NOTE:

Put on gloves to protect your hands.

3. Remove the recline motor (A): 

a. Release the push nut (B) from the motor side end of the connecting rod (C).  

b. Gently tap on the motor side of the connecting rod to remove it from the recline motor and both 

recline adjusters (D).  

c. Remove the rod cover (E).  

d. Remove the bolt and clamp (F), then remove the recline motor.

4. Install the motor in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Replace the push nut with a new one. Make sure the push nut is installed correctly.  

z

Apply liquid thread lock to the motor mounting bolt before reinstallation.

1. Remove these items: 

a. Lumbar support knob (see step 5 of FRONT SEAT COVER REPLACEMENT )  

b. Back panel (see step 6 of FRONT SEAT COVER REPLACEMENT )  

2. Release the hook strips on the inside of the seat-back (see step 8 of FRONT SEAT COVER 

REPLACEMENT )  

3. Remove the screws securing the lumbar support actuator (A). 

NOTE:

z

When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to 
prevent damage.  

z

Take care not to bend the cable.  

z

Take care not to tear the seams or damage the seat covers.  

z

Put on gloves to protect your hands.

4. Release the hook of the yoke wire (A) from top of the basket (B) to loosen the lumbar support cable (C), 

then disconnect it.
