Symptom: P0581-SPEED CONTROL SWITCH NO.1 HIGH When Monitored and Set Condition: P0581-SPEED CONTROL SWITCH NO.1 HIGH When Monitored: With the ignition key on. Battery voltage above 10 volts. Set Condition: The PCM detects voltage above 4.8 volts in the Speed Control Switch Signal circuit. One Trip Fault. POSSIBLE CAUSES SPEED CONTROL SWITCH VOLTAGE HIGH SPEED CONTROL SWITCHES CLOCKSPRING (V37) S/C SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE (V37) S/C SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN BETWEEN PCM AND CLOCKSPRING (K900) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN BETWEEN PCM AND CLOCKSPRING (V37) S/C SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN BETWEEN CLOCKSPRING AND S/C SWITCH (K900) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN BETWEEN CLOCKSPRING AND S/C SWITCH PCM TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY 1 NOTE: Do not press any of the Speed Control Switch buttons. t, read the Speed Control voltage. Is the Speed Control voltage above 4.8 volt? All Yes → Go To 2 No → Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION Symptom (Diagnos- tic Procedure). 2 Turn the ignition off. All Yes → Go To 3 No → Replace the Speed Control Switch that had the incorrect resis- tance value. 217 DRIVEABILITY - NGC |
