When Monitored and Set Condition:

P1725-INDUCTIVE AUX. SPEED SENSOR DYN. PLAUSIBILITY

When Monitored:

With the engine running.

Set Condition:

The ECM has determined that the inductive auxiliary speed sensor values

are incorrect during an engine speed transition.

P1725-INDUCTIVE AUX. SPEED SENSOR OVERSPEED RECOGNITION

When Monitored:

With the engine running.

Set Condition:

The ECM detects the engine speed signal from the needle movement

sensor has exceeded 6600 RPM.

P1725-INDUCTIVE AUX. SPEED SENSOR PLAUSIBILITY

When Monitored:

With the engine running.

Set Condition:

The ECM has determined that the needle movement sensor input is

incorrect.

Set Condition:

The ECM has determined that the inductive auxiliary speed sensor values

are incorrect.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, erase ECM DTCs.
Start the engine and vary the engine speed from idle to 3500 RPM several times.
With the DRB, read ECM DTCs.
Did this DTC reset?

All

Yes

→

Go To

No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Needle Movement Sensor harness connector.
Check the Needle Movement Sensor connector terminals in the harness side
connector and the sensor side connector.
Is there any damage or corrosion to any of the terminals in either connector?

All

Yes

→

Repair as necessary.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

No

→

Go To

NOTE: EMI interference can be caused by high current carrying wires or
the Alternator.
Check the wiring harness for mis-routing that could cause EMI interference.
Is the wiring harness mis-routed?

All

Yes

→

Repair as necessary.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

No

→

Go To

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Needle Movement Sensor harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Needle Movement Sensor Signal circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes

→

Go To

No

→

Repair the Needle Movement Sensor Signal circuit for an open.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Needle Movement Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
Measure the resistance of the Needle Movement Sensor Ground circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes

→

Go To

6

No

→

Repair the Needle Movement Sensor Ground circuit for an open.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Needle Movement Sensor harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Needle Movement Sensor Signal
circuit.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?

Yes

→

Go To

No

→

Repair the Needle Movement Sensor Signal circuit for a short to
ground.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

Turn the ignition off.
Replace the Needle Movement Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, erase ECM DTCs.
Start the engine and vary the engine speed from idle to 3500 RPM several times.
With the DRB, read ECM DTCs.
Did this DTC reset?

All

Yes

→

Replace and program the Engine Control Module in accordance
with the Service Information.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

No

→

The repair is complete.
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

WARNING: WHEN THE ENGINE IS OPERATING, DO NOT STAND IN A
DIRECT LINE WITH THE FAN. DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS NEAR THE
PULLEYS, BELTS OR FAN. DO NOT WEAR LOOSE CLOTHING.
NOTE: The conditions that set the DTC are not present at this time. The
following list may help in identifying the intermittent condition.
With the engine running at normal operating temperature, monitor the DRB
parameters related to the DTC while wiggling the wiring harness. Look for param-
eter values to change and/or a DTC to set.
Review the DTC When Monitored and Set Conditions. If possible, try to duplicate the
conditions under which the DTC was set.
Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply.
Visually inspect the related wiring harness. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or
partially broken wires.
Visually inspect the related wiring harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed
out, or corroded terminals.
Were any of the above conditions present?

All

Yes

→

Repair as necessary
Perform ROAD TEST VERIFICATION - VER-2.

No

→

Test Complete.

Test Note:

All symptoms listed above are diagnosed using the same tests.

The title for the tests will be P1756-GOV PRESS NOT EQUAL
TO TARGET @ 15-20 PSI.

When Monitored and Set Condition:

P1756-GOV PRESS NOT EQUAL TO TARGET @ 15-20 PSI

When Monitored:

The PCM test for this code is executed every 440 ms with: 1. the engine

running. 2. the fuel level > 1/4 tank. 3. the vehicle below 8000 feet. 4. the requested
governor pressure between 103 and 138 kPa (15 and 20 PSI). 5. the throttle open less than
50%. 6. the transmission relay energized. 7. the transfercase not in low range. 8. the gear
selector not in park or neutral. 9. the transmission fluid temperature greater than 10° C
(50° F) but less than 127° C (260° F). 10. no governor pressure sensor trouble codes. 11. no
throttle position sensor trouble codes. 12. no park/neutral position switch trouble codes. 13.
no gov pres above 3 PSI in gear with 0 MPH trouble code. 14. no vehicle speed sensor
trouble codes. 15. no ROM SUM trouble code.

Set Condition:

The governor pressure is less than 69 kPa (10 PSI) or greater than 172

kPa (25 PSI) with the requested governor pressure between 103 and 138 kPa (15 and 20
PSI) for at least 2.2 seconds consecutively. These conditions must occur 5 times consecu-
tively before the code will set.

P1757-GOV PRES ABOVE 3 PSI IN GEAR WITH 0 MPH

When Monitored:

The PCM test for this code is executed every 440 ms with: 1. the engine

running. 2. the fuel level > 1/4 tank. 3. the vehicle below 8000 feet. 4. vehicle speed 0 km/h.
5. the throttle open less than 50%. 6. the transmission relay energized. 7. the transfercase
not in low range. 8. the gear selector not in park or neutral. 9. the transmission fluid
temperature greater than 10° C (50° F) but less than 127° C (260° F). 10. governor pressure
at 0 kPa. 11. no governor pressure sensor trouble codes. 12. no throttle position sensor
trouble codes. 13. no park/neutral position switch trouble codes. 14. no gov press not equal
to target @ 15-20 MPH trouble code. 15. no vehicle speed sensor trouble codes. 16. no ROM
SUM trouble code.

Set Condition:

The governor pressure is greater than 20.6 kPa (3 PSI) with the requested

governor pressure 0 kPa with the governor pressure solenoid duty cycle at 95% for at least
2.64 seconds. These conditions must occur 2 times consecutively before the code will set.
