ACTION

APPLICABILITY

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Leak Detection Pump electrical harness connector.
Connect a 12 volt test light to a good 12 volt source (B+).
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII

t, actuate the Leak Detection Pump.

Check the LDP Solenoid Control circuit, with the test light, while the Leak Detection
Pump is actuating.
Does the test light blink?

All

Yes

→

Go To

No

→

Go To

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

All

Repair

Replace the Leak Detection Pump.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 6.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Leak Detection Pump electrical harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector(s).
Measure the resistance between the LDP Solenoid Control circuit and ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

All

Yes

→

Repair the LDP Solenoid Control Circuit for a short to ground.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 6.

No

→

Go To

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Leak Detection Pump Solenoid harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector(s)..
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the LDP Solenoid Control Circuit from the PCM harness
connector to the LDP harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes

→

Go To

7

No

→

Repair the open Leak Detection Pump Solenoid Control Circuit.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 6.

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

All

Repair

Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accor-
dance with the Service Information.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 6.

Turn the ignition off.
Using the schematic as a guide, inspect the Wiring and Connectors.
Were any problems found?

All

Yes

→

Repair as necessary.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 6.

No

→

Go To

Ignition on, engine not running.
With the DRBIII

t, actuate the LDP Solenoid.

While wiggling the LDP Wiring Harness from the LDP Solenoid harness connector to
PCM harness connector, listen to LDP Solenoid.
Did the LDP Solenoid ever stop or start clicking?

All

Yes

→

Repair as necessary where wiggling caused problem to appear.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 6.

No

→

Test Complete.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII

t, actuate the Radiator Fan.

Does the Radiator Fan come on?

All

Yes

→

Go To

No

→

Go To

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII

t, actuate the Radiator Fan.

Wiggle the wiring harness from the Radiator Fan solenoid connector to the PCM
harness connector.
Did the wiggling interrupt the Radiator Fan Motor stop?

All

Yes

→

Repair as necessary where wiggling caused the fan operation to
be interrupted.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.

No

→

Go To

Turn the ignition off.
Using the schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
Were any problems found?

All

Yes

→

Repair as necessary.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.

No

→

Test Complete.

Turn the ignition on.
Measure the Radiator Fan Ignition Circuit for voltage.
Is the voltage above 12.0 volts?

All

Yes

→

Go To

5

No

→

Repair the open Ignition run Circuit.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector(s).
Disconnect the Radiator Fan solenoid harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Radiator Fan solenoid control circuit from the fan
harness connector to the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

All

Yes

→

Go To

6

No

→

Repair the open Radiator Fan Solenoid Control Circuit.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Radiator Fan harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector(s).
Measure the resistance between ground and the Radiator Fan Control circuit.
Is the resistance above 100 kohms?

All

Yes

→

Go To

7

No

→

Repair the Radiator Fan Control Circuit for a short to ground.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.

7

Turn the ignition off.
Backprobe the Fan Solenoid Control circuit at the PCM harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Connect a jumper wire to the Radiator Fan Solenoid Control circuit in the PCM
harness connector.
Momentarily connect the other end of the jumper wire to ground.
Did the Radiator Fan actuate?

All

Yes

→

Go To

8

No

→

Replace the Radiator Fan Solenoid.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

All

Repair

Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accor-
dance with the Service Information.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.
