operation during stationary turns)

Perform self-diagnosis to check that
vehicle speed sensor and stop lamp
switch are in good order.
When self-diagnosis is performed
using CONSULT-II, abnormalities con-
cerning stop lamp switch cannot be
displayed. Always perform self-diagno-
sis using indicator lamp located in
meter cluster.

Faulty vehicle speed sen-
sor. Go to “Diagnostic Pro-
cedure 1 (Vehicle speed
sensor)”.

Faulty stop lamp switch.
Go to “Diagnostic Proce-
dure 3 (Stop lamp switch)”.

Check control unit output signal.
1. Turn ignition switch to “ON”.
2. Measure voltage between control unit

connector terminals

ground circuit.

Check EPS solenoid valve.
Disconnect EPS solenoid valve connector.
Apply battery voltage to solenoid terminal
to check that solenoid valve plunger
clicks.

GEAR.
Adjust steering gear assembly to check
that problem is eliminated.

Perform self-diagnosis to check that
vehicle speed sensor is in good order.

sor. Go to “Diagnostic Pro-
cedure 1 (Vehicle speed
sensor)”.

Lift drive wheels using a jack. Start the
engine to check speedometer operation.

Increase vehicle speed from 0 to 100
km/h (0 to 62 MPH), then measure volt-

nals
