CHECK POWER SUPPLY

1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect intake air temperature sensor harness connector.

3. Turn ignition switch “ON”.
4. Check voltage between intake air temperature sensor terminal 1 and ground with CONSULT-II or tester.

Harness connectors M49, F23

I

Harness for open or short between ECM and intake air temperature sensor

Repair harness or connectors.

CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT

1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Check harness continuity between terminal 2 and engine ground.

Continuity should exist.

3. Also check harness for short to power.

DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART

Check the following.

Harness connectors E75, M6

Harness connectors M49, F23

I

Harness for open or short between ECM and intake air temperature sensor

Harness for open or short between intake air temperature sensor and TCM (Transmission control module)

Repair open circuit or short to power in harness or connectors.

CHECK INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Refer to “Component Inspection”, EC-170.

Replace intake air temperature sensor.

CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT

Perform “TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR INTERMITTENT INCIDENT”, EC-146.
