Internal Failure of the

ODS Unit (’07-08 Models)

Front Passenger’s Weight

Sensors Initial Check Failure (’07-08 Models)

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure,
review SRS Precautions and Procedures (see page
24-16) and General Troubleshooting Information
(see page 24-27).

1. Clear the DTC memory (see page 24-28).

2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the

SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and
then goes off.

Go to step 3.

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this

time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures
(see page 24-29). If another DTC is indicated,
troubleshoot the DTC.

3. Initialize the ODS unit (see page 24-30).

4. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the

SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and
then goes off.

The system is OK.

Go to step 5.

5. Replace the ODS unit (see page 24-192).

6. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the

SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and
then goes off.

The system is OK.

Replace the SRS unit (see page 24-188).

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure,
review SRS Precautions and Procedures (see page
24-16) and General Troubleshooting Information
(see page 24-27).

2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the

SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and
then goes off.

Go to step 3.

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this

time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures
(see page 24-29). If another DTC is indicated,
troubleshoot the DTC.

3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

4. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger’s seat.

5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the

SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and
then goes off.

The system is OK.

Remove the front passenger’s seat assembly

(see page 20-97) and the front passenger’s weight
sensors (see page 24-191), then reinstall them.
Calibrate the ODS unit (see page 24-31). Retry the
troubleshooting. If DTC 81-79 is indicated
repeatedly, replace the front passenger’s weight
sensors.

Does the SRS indicator stay on, and is DT C 81-4x,
81-5x, 81-63, or 81-64 indicated?

Does the SRS indicator go of f ?

Does the SRS indicator stay on, and is DT C 81-7 9
indicated?

Does the SRS indicator go of f ?

Passenger’s Weight Sensor (’07-08 Models)

No Signal from the Outer Side Front
Passenger’s Weight Sensor (’07-08 Models)

1. Clear the DTC memory (see page 24-28).

2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the

SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and
then goes off.

Replace the inner or outer side front

passenger’s weight sensor (see page 24-191).

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this

time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures
(see page 24-29). If another DTC is indicated,
troubleshoot the DTC.

Does the SRS indicator stay on, and is DT C 82-1x
or 83-2x indicated?

OPDS UNIT HARNESS 8P CONNECTOR

No Signal from the OPDS Unit

(’06 Model)

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure,
review SRS Precautions and Procedures (see page
24-16) and General Troubleshooting Information
(see page 24-27).

1. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger’s seat.

2. Clear the DTC memory (see page 24-28).

3. Read the DTC (see page 24-27).

Go to step 4.

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this

time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures
(see page 24-29). If another DTC is indicated,
troubleshoot the DTC.

4. Check the connection between the OPDS unit

harness 8P connector and the OPDS unit.

Go to step 5.

Repair the poor connection and retest. If DTC

85-61 or 85-62 is still present, go to step 5.

5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

6. Check the No. 10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver’s

under-dash fuse/relay box.

Go to step 7.

Replace the fuse, then turn the ignition switch

ON (II). If the fuse blows again, check for a short in
the No. 10 (7.5 A) fuse circuit (dashboard wire
harness, floor wire harness, front passenger’s seat
wire harness, or OPDS unit harness).

7. Disconnect the OPDS unit harness 8P connector (A)

from the OPDS unit.

8. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

9. Measure the voltage between the No. 4 terminal of

the OPDS unit harness 8P connector and body
ground. There should be battery voltage.

Go to step 14.

Go to step 10.

10. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

11. Disconnect dashboard wire harness 24P connector

C402 (A) from the floor wire harness C402 (B).

12. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

13. Measure the voltage between the No. 13 terminal

of the dashboard wire harness 24P connector C402
and body ground. There should be battery voltage.

Open in the floor wire harness, front

passenger’s seat wire harness or OPDS unit
harness; replace the faulty harness.

Open in the dashboard wire harness, poor

connection at connector N (see page 22-61), or
faulty under-dash fuse/relay box; replace the
dashboard wire harness or faulty part.

14. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

15. Measure the resistance between the No. 8 terminal

of the OPDS unit harness 8P connector and body
ground. There should be 0

Go to step 16.

Open in the OPDS unit harness, front

passenger’s seat wire harness or floor wire
harness; check the connection at G501 (see page
22-38). If the connection is OK, replace the faulty
harness.

16. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the

negative cable from the battery, and wait for 3
minutes.

17. Disconnect both seat belt tensioner 4P connectors

(see step 6 on page 24-26).
