SRS components are located in this area. Review the
SRS component locations (see page 24-14) and the
precautions and procedures (see page 24-16) before
doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

• Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to

avoid damage when prying components.

• Take care not to bend and scratch the headliner.
• Be careful not to damage the dashboard and other

interior trim.

1. Remove these items:

• A-pillar trim, both sides (see page 20-63)
• Front seat belt lower anchor, both sides (see step

4 on page 24-4)

• B-pillar lower trim, both sides (see page 20-65)
• Front seat belt upper anchor, both sides (see step

7 on page 24-4)

• B-pillar upper trim, both sides (see step 5 on

page 20-66)

• Rear seat-back (see page 20-119)
• Rear trim panel (see step 2 on page 20-68)
• Rear seat belt upper anchor, both sides (see step

3 on page 24-7)

• C-pillar trim, both sides (see step 4 on page

20-68)

• Ceiling light (see page 22-195)
• Front seat, passenger’s side (see page 20-97)
• Center console (see page 20-76)

2. From both sides, using a trim tool, release the tabs

(A), then remove the sunvisor cap (B) from the
bracket (C). Turn the cap, and remove it.

3. Remove both sunvisors (A) and holders (B).

–1 Remove the screws.
–2 Remove the sunvisor from the body and holder.
–3 If equipped, disconnect the vanity mirror light

connector (C).

–4 Using a flat-tip screwdriver, push the hook (D),

turn the holder 90 °, then pull it out.

4. Remove the roof console (A).

–1 Remove the lenses (B).
–2 Remove the bolts.
–3 Pull out the roof console and front individual

map light (C).

–4 Disconnect the front individual map light

connector (D) and navigation microphone
connector (E).

5. From both sides, remove the coat hangers (A).

–1 Using a wrapped pick tool (B) with the

protective tape, pry the cap (C) down to detach
the hooks (D), then remove it.

–2 Remove the screws.

6. Remove the headliner (A).

–1 Remove the front door opening trim (B) and

rear door opening trim (C) from each roof
portion.

–2 With the help of an assistant, detach the rear

clips, and release the fastener (D) and pin (E)
by pulling the rear portion of the headliner
down.

–3 Moonroof: Detach the front clips by lowering

the headliner.

–4 Release the fasteners (F) by lowering the

headliner.

–5 Lower the headliner, and remove it through the

passenger’s door opening.

–6 If necessary, remove the bolts, then remove

the roof console bracket (G).

7. Install the headliner in the reverse order of removal,

and note these items:

• If the side curtain airbag has been deployed,

replace the headliner.

• To prevent the side curtain airbags from

deploying improperly and possibly causing
injury, inspect removed pieces and replace them
if they have any of these types of damage:
– Any creases or tears in the headliner (A)
– Any fasteners (B) or clip bases (C) which have

come off the headliner

– Any damage around the coat hanger holes (D)

or sunvisor holes (E) in the headliner

– Any deformations in the coat hangers (F)
– Any cracks in the sunvisor stay base (G)
– Any bends or cracks in the sunvisor stay shaft

(H)

– Any cracks in the sunvisor base (I)
– Any cracks in the vanity mirror base (J)
– Any deformations in the grab handle bracket

• Replace any damaged parts with new ones.
• Make sure the trim pieces overlaps the headliner

correctly (see page 24-173)

• When passing the headliner through the door

opening, be careful not to fold or bend it. Also, be
careful not to scratch the body.

• Check that both sides of the headliner are

securely attached to the trim.

• If the threads on a visor screws are worn out, use

an oversized self-tapping ET screw, P/N
90137-S30-003, made specifically for this
application.
