Moonroof

Sunshade Replacement

1. Remove the drain channel (see page 20-49).

2. Slide the sunshade (A) until you can see both

sunshade slider spacers (B).

3. Remove the screws, then remove both spacers.

4. While lifting the front portion of the sunshade (A),

move the sunshade forward until you can see both
sunshade rear hooks (B). Do not damage the
sunshade and hooks.

5. Remove the screws, then remove both hooks.

Motor Replacement

6. Remove the sunshade (A).

7. Remove both front sunshade base sliders (A) and

both rear sunshade base sliders (B).

8. Install the sunshade in the reverse order of removal,

and check the glass position adjustment (see page
20-47).

9. Check for water leaks. Let the water run freely from

a hose without a nozzle. Do not use a high-pressure
spray.

1. Remove the headliner (see page 20-70).

2. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Disconnect the

connector (A), and remove the bolts, then remove
the motor (B).

3. Install the motor in the reverse order of removal,

and note these items:

• Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
• Check the motor operation.

Frame and Drain Tube Replacement

SRS components are located in this area. Review the
SRS component locations (see page 24-14) and the
precautions and procedures (see page 24-16) before
doing repairs or service.

1. Remove these items:

• Headliner (see page 20-70)
• Moonroof glass (see page 20-47)

2. Disconnect the motor connector (A) and open/

close-tilt/close switch connector (B). Remove the
moonroof relays (C), and detach the harness clip
(D).

3. Disconnect the drain tubes (A), and detach the

drain tube clip (B).

4. With an assistant holding the frame (A), remove the

bolts, starting at the rear, and release the rear
hooks (B) by moving the frame forward.

5. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the

frame through the front door opening. Take care
not to scratch the interior trim and body, or tear the
seat covers.

6. To remove a front drain valve (A) from the body,

remove the kick panel, driver’s or passenger’s
(see page 20-60). Tie a string to the top end of the
drain tube, then pull the front drain tube (B) down
through the A-pillar. The string will later be used to
install the drain tube.

7. For the rear drain tubes, remove these items:

• Rear panel insulator (see page 20-69)
• Side curtain airbag, as necessary (see page

24-177)

8. At the passenger’s side C-pillar, below the rear

window frame, remove the foam insert (A) through
the hole.

9. At the passenger’s side C-pillar, below the seat belt

retractor, remove the foam insert (A) through the
hole. On the driver’s side, release the fuel fill door
opener cable (B) from the slit (C) in the foam insert.

10. Disconnect the drain tube (A), and remove the clips,

then remove the drain tube joint (B).
